Lingen Davies Cancer Support

Lingen Davies Cancer Support Lingen Davies Cancer Fund is an independent charity supporting cancer patients in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and Mid Wales.

The region's primary cancer charity, working to enhance cancer care and ensure those living in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, and Mid Wales can access excellent cancer services locally. We're in constant awe of those in our community who host fundraisers for us 💛

With such a fantastic stream of fundraising events, we've created a dedicated page on our website to shout about as many of them as possible!

If you're looking for something fun to do and fancy supporting us at the same time, have a look at the third-party events calendar on our website to see if there's an upcoming fundraiser taking place near you 👇

As the chosen charity for the Shropshire Chamber Business Awards last night, we had the privilege of speaking to the room about who we are and what we do for our community.

Instead of doing it all ourselves, we decided to let those in our region who are impacted by cancer do the talking 💛

Check it out: https://youtu.be/ccXQIRM9Cwg

Thank you to the fantastic team at 7video for helping us capture what Lingen Davies Cancer Support is all about 👏

Tonight has been one to remember! ✨

As finalists in two categories of the Shropshire Chamber Business Awards, we've been at the awards ceremony in Telford International Centre celebrating all the wonderful businesses and businesspeople working across the county.

Emilie, our Events and Marketing Coordinator, was nominated as 'Young Business Person' of the year, and Lingen Davies Cancer Support as a whole was nominated as the 'Best Place To Work'.

We’re delighted to say that we’re winners in the ‘Best Place To Work’ category! As a local charity, we are beyond proud of this achievement and of the fact that we were in the same category as some incredible Shropshire businesses.

We're also proud to have been the charity of the evening, with a variety of local businesses pledging to support us and our £5million Sunflower Appeal 🌻

Thank you everyone!

After a visit to his GP because 'something wasn't right', Derek Thompson was diagnosed with grade five prostate cancer in March 2024.

Following a successful prostatectomy to remove his cancer, Derek signed up for the free to access tai chi and horticultural activity sessions on our Wellbeing Programme.

He said, "The support I've had from doing all these things is very empowering and uplifting."

Today, Derek and his wife are in the middle of tackling an 84 mile walking challenge along Hadrian's Wall, fundraising for Lingen Davies Cancer Support in the process as a way to give something back. Thank you 💛

Thursdays are for thank yous! 💙

Everything we do for those living with and beyond cancer is only possible because of the support we receive from people who want to make a positive difference.

🌷 Janet Greene recently donated £500 which she raised selling plants and knitted items. Her motivations to raise money for us were inspired by members of her family who've had cancer.

☕ Sisters Dawn, Deb, and Caroline hosted a successful coffee morning and raffle in support of our Sunflower Appeal. Thanks to match funding from Deb's workplace, HSBC, and Telford & Wrekin Council, they donated over £600 to the appeal.

🏃‍♀️ Kirsty Johnson challenged herself to run the Market Drayton 10k as a way to raise money for us following the treatment received by many of her friends and family in the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre. As a result, she raised £450 and achieved a PB!

🌻 The Kynnersley Coffee Group donated £1,000 following three successful fundraising events - a Soup and Pudding Lunch, a Coffee Morning, and a Sunflower Sale. Amazing!

🐰 Following a special Easter Raffle, The Lord Hill Innin Telford donated an amazing £1,050 to the Sunflower Appeal. This donation was match funded by Telford & Wrekin Council, meaning an incredible £2,100 will go in the appeal pot.

A personal update from Jeremy Clarkson in the latest episode of Clarkson's Farm has hit the headlines in recent days, raising cancer awareness for millions across the world.

As a charity, we're motivated to ensure everyone has access to excellent cancer care 💛

This starts with encouraging everyone to recognise any changes to their body, have everyday conversations with peers about cancer, and attend cancer screening appointments when invited - all of which are topics our LiveLife Cancer Awareness and Cancer Champion projects focus on.

With statistics showing that one in two will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, it's never been more important to work together to make a positive difference for people affected by cancer.

Thank you to Jeremy for sharing his prostate cancer journey and using his platform to raise cancer awareness. We wish him all the best with his treatment.

Did you hear the news? We've raised over £1.25million for the Sunflower Appeal! 🎉

To help support our fundraising efforts, Telford & Wrekin Council generously pledged £250,000 to match every donation made to the appeal until this match funding pot ran out.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of people across our region, the £250,000 target has now been reached!

If you've got an upcoming fundraiser for our Sunflower Appeal, every pound you raise will still play a huge part in helping us grow cancer services across the region.

Thank you to everyone who has made this possible 💛
