Lingen Davies Cancer Fund is an independent charity supporting cancer patients in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and Mid Wales.

The region's primary cancer charity, working to enhance cancer care and ensure those living in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, and Mid Wales can access excellent cancer services locally. We fund innovative projects which contribute to the treatment and prevention of cancer, and all of our money is spent locally. We are based at the Hamar Centre at the Royal Shrewsbury hospital.

This Christmas, we're proud to have the support of local artist Meg Hawkins Artist.

Meg has created a special collection of Christmas cards, with 10% of the profits from every card sold being donated to Lingen Davies Cancer Support.

She said: "It's a charity that means a lot to me personally, so being able to create a special collection of cards using my artwork, while raising funds for such an important local cause, makes this project even more special."

Alongside selling cards to raise funds for us, Meg has taken it one step further by applying for funding from the British Allied Trades Federation (BATF) for our £5million Sunflower Appeal.

We're delighted to share that Meg's application was successful, meaning £3,333 has been donated to this appeal to grow local cancer care.

Ready, steady, bake! 🎃

Yesterday morning, we were invited to join the D**e Yaxley Chartered Accountants team at their office for a spooky Halloween Bake Off.

As their Charity of the Year, it was an honour to offer up two judges to taste the sweet treats and nominate a Star Baker. Congratulations to Amelia!

We've never been more delighted to see a mouse, eyeball and spiders in our food 🕷️

What do you get when you combine charities, Christmas, and a 60th anniversary?

The Shrewsbury Charity Christmas Card Shop at St Mary's Church, of course! 💛

This year, the shop at St Mary's Church in Shrewsbury is reopening for its 60th year, with festive cards from up to 25 charities being sold by a lovely team of volunteers.

This is your opportunity to support a local charity like us this Christmas, with money from every pack purchased helping to make a true difference.

📅 Open Monday to Saturday from 10am until 4pm, starting 28th October.

We're committed to finding ways to support people in the local community affected by cancer 🩵

This Christmas, Alderford Lake has kindly gifted us a complimentary family ticket (2 adults, 2 children) for their Santa Experience on Saturday, 5th December at 12pm.

This free ticket is available for anyone facing a cancer diagnosis, supporting a loved one through their treatment, or for a member of Cancer Centre staff who has gone above and beyond.

Is there someone you'd like to nominate? Simply write their name on the nomination form found in the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, or via our website.

For October's 'Meet the Team' we chatted with Emma, our Chief Operating Officer.

Emma joined the team in 2022 after generously giving up her free time to volunteer for us for a few months 💛

She said: "It's been around four years of working for Lingen Davies now, and I absolutely love it - definitely the right decision!"

Last month, Dawley social club Telford hosted a Family Fun Day - complete with live music, a tombola and raffle, and a darts marathon - in aid of Lingen Davies Cancer Support 💛

Emma Pooler, one of the event organisers, said: "Cancer affects so many families, and we all know someone who has needed, or will need, that extra care, comfort and support.

"This was about more than darts, bingo, or fundraising. It was about our community coming together to make a difference when it matters most."

In total, they raised a fantastic £1,180 on the day. This was kindly rounded up by the Mayor of Great Dawley, Ben Carter, to £1,500! Thank you so much.
