Old Salopians of every generation gathered at School on Saturday for OS Day 2026. This year families were particularly encouraged to attend, with new activities for children including taster sessions on the new padel courts and the sprung floor of the dance studio, and painting organised by (MSH 2008-10) who put on a fantastic exhibition of her work in the Art School.
92-year-old David Gee was in good form and joined us for lunch, while 10-month-old Henry Bradshaw attended with his parents, Charlotte and Daniel, who met at School in 2008, the first year girls were admitted to Shrewsbury. Will and Francesca Scott-Moncrieff, who also met in the Sixth Form, brought their family along too.
The theme of Shrewsbury bringing couples together continued with a warm and personal speech from Salopian Club President Andy Po***ck (I 1971–74), who spoke about the deep impact the School has had on his life, not least because he met his wife, Sally, who attended Shrewsbury High School, at Tudor Court 54 years ago!
There were plenty of familiar attractions too, including the Old Salopian Football fixtures, music, a fascinating talk on the Taylor Library’s 1534 Tyndale Bible and an update from the Headmaster.
On Sunday, Old Salopians joined the new entrants’ service in Chapel, followed by the Alex Wilson Football Match, commemorating an Old Salopian whose memory lives on through the scholarship established in his name.
