Mr Bell is in Kenya this week meeting up with Old Salopians, current and prospective parents and other friends of Shrewsbury School. Wherever you are in the world there are Old Salopians to meet with, and whatever vintage you belong to the ability of Salopians to find common ground with one another and enjoy each others' company remains remarkably constant.

A perfect summer day for watching cricket on Top Common. The Saracens took on the Eton Ramblers on Sunday in the first round of the Cricketer Cup. Spectators enjoyed a buffet lunch in a festive marquee and a long sunny afternoon of catching up and reminiscing about past victories. Saracens legend Nicko Williams' 86th birthday was also appropriately celebrated. Unfortunately there was no victory in the present with the Eton Ramblers scoring a narrow win over the home side. You can see the team back in action on Thursday at the summer party at Shepherd's Bush Cricket Club from 6pm.

🥇BRITISH ROWING MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS

A massive well done to our Sabrina 8+ which raced today and won their event (Open C Eights). The 8+ achieved a time of 3.09.39 over the 1km race.

A special mention to Athol Hundermark, Director of Rowing, who is sadly leaving at the end of the year + Ross La Maitre, a Shrewsbury School Staff member, who is also leaving the school at the end of this academic year.

We are very excited to see what else Sabrina can achieve this season and beyond!

Emily Pirie (EDH 2014-16) and Emily Milverton (MSH 2013-15) - will be swimming 1.7km in the Lake District next week to raise money for Suicide&Co
Emily P lost her brother and father to su***de. This swim is their way of honouring them, spending the day doing something meaningful, and raising money for a cause close to their hearts.
They're taking on the Great North Swim challenge for Suicide&Co on June 13th which would have been 4 days after Jake's 30th birthday. Their fundraising target is £1,000. This will help Suicide&Co continue their mission to support individuals bereaved by su***de - through free counselling and a vital community of care.

Harry Bromley-Davenport (SH 2008-2013) has launched an ambitious fundraising project- he writes:
'For my whole professional career to date I have in some way been raising capital. I’m now hoping to put that to good use for a selection of incredible charities. This is an idea I’ve been thinking about for many years, and I’m delighted to finally put it into action.
I'm launching "5 for 5" — five challenges for five charities, with a fundraising target of £5,000 for each (£25,000 total). Any donation will be split evenly across all five charities: Cancer Research, Mind (Mental Health), RNLI (Lifeboat), the Atlantic Salmon Trust & Child Bereavement UK.
The Challenges:
🚴 Mallorca 312 – endurance cycling challenge
🥾 Rim to Rim, Arizona – hiking the Grand Canyon
🏃 Maine Marathon – running tip to tip on the island of Islesboro, Maine
🏊 Anglesey Swim – team open water swim
❓ Challenge 5 – TBC
All going well, I will complete the first 4 challenges by the end of the summer this year. I already have some people drafted in along the way but please reach out if you might be interested in getting involved.
No donation is too small. I would hugely appreciate anything you're willing to give. I'm sure many of you have at least one of these charities close to your heart — and I hope it helps to know that a single donation will be supporting five incredible causes at once.https://givewheel.com/fundraising/15097/5-for-5-challenge/'
