Today we remember the women we have sadly lost.

SWWOP welcome's Andy Burnham's pledge to end rough sleeping. It's the kind of ambition we desperately need.

But here's the challenge.

You can't end a problem if you're not counting everyone experiencing it.

Every year the headlines focus on rough sleeping figures. Yet thousands of women are missing from those numbers because women experience homelessness differently. They are sofa surfing. Staying in abusive relationships. Sleeping in cars. Moving from place to place. Exchanging s*x for a roof over their head. They are hidden in plain sight.

The system wasn't designed with women's experiences in mind and the data reflects that.

If politicians are serious about ending rough sleeping then they need to stop relying on measures that leave women out. What gets counted gets funded. What gets funded gets prioritised. Women deserve better than being invisible.

We hope Andy Burnham and his team will recognise the vital work of VSCE organisations that have stepped in where national data falls short. Projects like Solace's Women's Rough Sleeping Census are exposing the reality that official figures continue to miss.

Hidden homelessness is real. Women's homelessness counts. If we're going to end rough sleeping then every woman has to be seen.

We are looking for a Treasurer to join the SWWOP Board of Trustees❤️

Sheffield Working Women’s Opportunity Project provides intensive support to vulnerable women involved in street s*x work.

We are looking for someone to undertake the role of Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees on a voluntary basis. We welcome applications from people from various backgrounds, who have a passion for supporting vulnerable women.

The Treasurer’s roles would include the following:

Supporting fellow trustees in understanding the charity’s financial position, enabling the board to make informed, strategic decisions.

Collaborating closely with the Finance Manager, attending regular meetings with her and the Project Manager to ensure accurate financial forecasting and monitoring.

Tracking actual income and expenditure against forecasted budgets, identifying and addressing any variances or risks that may impact the charity’s financial health.

Working with the Fundraising Officer to support funding applications and explore new fundraising opportunities.

Ensuring all statutory financial filings and returns (e.g., Companies House, Charity Commission) are completed accurately and submitted on time.

Time commitment: the Trustees meet every month for approximately two hours and there will be some additional time required for preparation for meetings etc. Our Trustee meetings are a mix of Zoom calls and meetings in person in Sheffield.

Travel expenses are available - these must be agreed in advance with the Chair of Trustees.

Applications should be emailed to the Chair of Trustees Polly Foster [email protected] and include a cover letter and CV. For more information, please visit: https://swwop.org

We were delighted to attend The Cutlers' Charitable Trust Presentation and are incredibly grateful to the Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire for their generous £500 donation to SWWOP ❤️

Thanks to this support, we can continue providing food to the women we support, helping ensure they have access to essential items during difficult times.

It was also a pleasure to meet and celebrate so many other incredible charities making a difference across Sheffield. The passion, dedication and impact of the voluntary sector is truly inspiring and we're proud to be a part of such a supportive community ❤️

❤️Volunteers' Week 2026 ❤️

This week, we're celebrating our incredible volunteers who give their time, energy and dedication to SWWOP.

Quite simply, our outreach van wouldn't reach as many clients as it does without you. In the sun, rain, wind and snow, you make sure the Johnny Van goes out to support those who need it most and that our drop in continues to provide a welcoming hug to all who pop by.

A big thank you from the heart to every single one of you ❤️❤️
