Baby Basics Sheffield

Baby Basics Sheffield We support vulnerable families by providing many of the essentials needed for life with a child 0-5yrs.

Baby Basics has worked in Sheffield since 2009 providing essential baby/toddler equipment to vulnerable families, including but not limited to, teenage mums, those seeking asylum and fleeing domestic abuse and trafficking. We provide clothing, toiletries, equipment, and other essentials needed for life with a new baby. Baby Basics works closely with midwives, health visitors and other agencies to

provide a safe, reliable service that people can trust. Our aim is to not only provide some of the essentials needed but to do so in a way that preserves dignity and speaks value to these families.

We are so grateful for all the support and crafting that the Crafting2gether teams provide to us. Thank you to all who contribute.

🤩 Another amazing week of gifting. This week it’s to Baby Basics Sheffield where we’ve donated and delivered 141 items which means we’re off to a cracking start after donating a whopping 2395 items to them last year 💚💜🎉

👶 Our bundle this week included knitted cardigans, cot and moses basket sheets, small drawstring bags, tote bags and taggies.

🧵 All our items are hand made by our wonderful crafters either at home or at our Dronfield hub at the The Peel Centre, Dronfield.

☕️So why not pop in and see what we do -you too can make a difference? No skills-no problem! We’re there every Tuesday and Thursday 10:30-14:30 and a warm welcome awaits 💜💚

Meet the Team - Kirsten

How long have you been volunteering?
I've been volunteering at Baby Basics for about 5 weeks now.

Why did you start volunteering?
I decided to start volunteering because I wanted to give back to the community that I've lived in for the past 4 years.

What is the best thing about volunteering at Baby Basics?
The work that the charity does is incredible and one of the best things about volunteering at the centre is seeing that you're having a direct impact on the people in your community. It's always encouraging to see the wall of the packages we've made up ready to go to different families across the city.

This are our most needed items.
We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of donations this week and need time to sort them, so we cannot accept clothing under 2yrs next week.
Thank you!

Meet the Team - Lucy

How long have you been volunteering?
I have been volunteering at Baby Basics for around 12 years!

Why did you start volunteering?
I started volunteering after having my last baby and donating all my baby things to Baby Basics. The idea of sorting through the donations appealed to me as I knew the items had more life in them and could be used by other families. I also liked the idea of making items presentable like a gift to the families.

What does Baby Basics mean to you?
Baby Basics is like a family and volunteers become friends which is lovely. We all support each other through life's ups and downs.

What is the best thing about volunteering at Baby Basics?
The best thing about volunteering is giving my spare time to others and knowing it makes a difference. Also the sense of doing something together with other volunteers for the wider good of strangers who need help.

Meet the Team - Charlotte

How long have you been volunteering?
I have been volunteering for almost a year.

Why did you start volunteering?
I started volunteering at Baby Basics to keep myself busy during my university summer holiday but I loved it so much that I decided to continue volunteering during term time.

What is the best thing about volunteering at Baby Basics?
There is a sense of togetherness at Baby Basics where everyone is proud to be making a difference to the community. As a student, Baby Basics is really flexible around university commitments, any time you can give is appreciated. It is a great way to get away from studying, even if it’s just for a morning, and make a difference.

We are CLOSED for Half term.Sorry we cannot accept any donations this week.
