Carousel Print Studio is a registered charity, specialising in printmaking workshops and open access facilities in Sheffield.

We are due to re- launch in our new space at Exchange Place Studios in 2022.

These are some of prints we will be selling at Sheffield print fair tomorrow from our collaborative collagraph session at carousel ! Thank you to experienced printmaker for teaching us this technique.
We are at Sheffield print fair from 10am - 4:30pm on Sat 8th Nov. Come down and have a look at carousel and make sure to check out all the amazing artists showcasing their work tomorrow.

A wonderful day at our Nature Monoprinting workshop.
We loved seeing all the amazing prints that came out of the session, with great colours and patterns, what a fantastic way to bring nature into printmaking.

Meet our Workshop Leader - Joanna Rucklidge .rucklidge
She will be at Sheffield Print Fair with her prints that playfully attract attention to discarded materials, celebrating their unique marks, shapes and qualities. Joanna makes work about consumer culture using disposable objects as inspiration, tools and surfaces for printmaking.
She will be doing a demo of gelli printing using found objects.

Meet our Workshop Leader – Andrew Gale .gale
Andrew Gale (b.1953) is a mixed media artist working across painting, printmaking & artist books. For most of his life, he worked internationally in industry and higher education, and is now studying for an MFA at Sheffield Hallam University.
Join Andrew for a hands-on Surface Transfer demonstration — a fascinating image transfer process that dates back to the 14th century. Historically, artists used materials like egg yolk, garlic juice, honey, and even reduced beer to transfer mirror images. Over time, gesso emulsion paints became popular, and today, a range of modern media can achieve beautiful results.
In this session, Andrew will show how to transfer a laser-printed image onto paper, share examples, and explore how artists such as Peter Folkes (1923–2019) used this expressive technique.

Participants will receive a handout with step-by-step guidance, useful links, and further resources.

Join experienced printmaker Sarah Godfrey ( ) for this exciting workshop exploring the collagraph printmaking technique.

In this workshop, you will be creating a printing plate by layering different types of sticky tape, which can be scratched, torn, cut, etc, to create different textures and shapes to form your design.

This will be inked using both relief (surface) rolling and intaglio techniques. This is a simple and quick way of working. Come and experiment and gain a good understanding of Collagraph printing along the way.

Explore the exciting process of nature mono printing using natural materials such as flowers and foliage.

You will print both positive and negative impressions from your natural materials and you will explore colour, shape, texture and layering through the print process. Relief printed elements and chine colle will also be introduced to add to your prints.

This course is suitable for beginners as well as those who want to develop their printmaking skills further.

Led by experienced tutor Diane Cooper in Carousel’s bright and fully equipped studio.
