This is NOT just a gift shop. It's part of something bigger.
You might know us as the Community Enterprise Gift Shop on Saltash's Fore Street, but we're actually just one part of Community Enterprises PL12 CIC, and there's a lot more going on behind the scenes than most people realise.
We're not a grant pot sitting quietly in the background - we're hands-on. We support our community directly, through people, premises, and projects.
A bit about us:
Set up in 2006, we're a not-for-profit run entirely by a board of local directors - people who live right here in Saltash and the surrounding areas. Between us, we have over 100 amazing volunteers, more than 700 members, and just 2 paid staff.
What we actually do:
Our Gift Shop isn't just a gift shop - any profit goes back into local causes, from our community groups to our Fridge and Larder. Plus, we support local small crafters, bakers and makers, and with a small commission, we give shelf space and marketing.
Our Fridge & Larder gives the community access to surplus food that would otherwise go to waste - good for local pockets, and good for the planet too
The Kitchen: We run a genuinely great value lunch in our Community Kitchen at 8 Fore Street, good food, good company, and a bit of friendship for anyone who fancies it
Volunteering: We offer volunteering opportunities for all sorts of people - from retired folk with time to give, working professionals wanting to make a difference, and young people completing their Duke of Edinburgh award.
Memory Box. This group provides support and activities for those affected by a mild to moderate cognitive impairment, especially dementia.
Saltash Partnerships: We work hand-in-hand with the organisations already doing brilliant things locally, and we're super proud to be a launchpad for many local enterprises and groups.
We share ideas, share resources, and roll up our sleeves - all with one aim: making Saltash and the surrounding area a better place to live, work, and visit.
