Saltash businesses, this one’s for you 👀

There’s something new happening for local businesses in Saltash, and it could be a great opportunity to meet more people, make useful connections and do more business locally.

Mike Turner has recently taken over Saltash Business Connections and is hoping to bring more of the town’s business owners together, both online and in person.

Mike has spent years building business communities and bringing businesses together across Devon and Cornwall, and now he’d like to put some of that energy into Saltash.

Before deciding what those get-togethers should look like, he’s asking Saltash businesses a very simple question:

What would suit you best?

🍳 Breakfast
☕️ Coffee morning
🥙 Lunch
🍻 After-work drinks

If you run a business in Saltash, work in one, or know someone who does, please take a few seconds to vote in the poll here:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/saltashbusinessconnections/posts/28028433316822877/

And if none of those work for you, choose "Other" and tell us what would.

It would be great to see even more Saltash businesses meeting each other, supporting each other and doing more business together 🩵

Please tag a Saltash business owner who should see this 👇

This May Fair...

Have you ever been to see the Saltash Chronicles?

This amazing embroidery project hangs in the Guildhall and is an incredible celebration of Saltash charting the town's history.

The Guildhall will be open for viewing on Saturday May 2 during May Fair.

Pop along and see this amazing work and chat to some of the dedicated volunteers who worked to create them.

Open between 10:30 and 2:30.

If ever there was a great example of people power, this was it!

As soon as people start engaging, others have to sit up and listen.

There's a lesson there...

We understand that people have very strong feelings about our public realm proposals.

Members have expressed clear concerns, and we have also heard the strength of feeling reflected in the public questions raised today, including about the way these plans were communicated to town and parish councils.

We accept that the process was not good enough, and we recognise the need for a clearer timetable.

Our responsibility is to keep Cornwall’s streets, footpaths and kerbsides safe, accessible and well maintained. But we also recognise that this must be done in a way that earns the confidence of members, town and parish councils and the wider public.

We’ll now carefully consider the points raised both in the motion and during the debate - including opt-out arrangements, and how any next steps are communicated.

In the meantime, we will continue with manual w**d control as far as possible.

It's nearly that time of year again when the Saltash community events calendar starts in earnest with the ever-popular May Fair.

But before we get too excited, it's time to think of local, unsung heros who maybe get overlooked or you think people should know about...

Get your thinking hats on, and give that special person you know of in our lovely community the recognition they deserve...

🎉 Unsung Hero Award - We Need YOUR Nominations! 🎉

We are looking for nominations for the 2026 Unsung Hero Award!

Each year we present this award to someone in our amazing Saltash community who consistently goes above and beyond, but never seeks recognition, someone who quietly makes a HUGE difference, sometime who has never been recognised for what they do.

Maybe it's:
💖A neighbour who's always there with a helping hand.
💖A volunteer who dedicates countless hours to a local cause.
💖A friend who's a constant source of support and kindness.
💖Someone in your organisation who consistently puts others before themselves.

If they haven't been officially recognised, we want to hear about them!

The Saltash May Fair's Unsung Hero award aims to shine a light on those incredible individuals who make Saltash a better place, without ever asking for anything in return.

Nominate via this link: https://forms.gle/JZ7c7pTY5cfWrEo16

Previous Unsung Heros:
2025 - Simon Eglinton
2024 - Don Berry
2023 - Dave and Rosie Waters
2022 - Nigel Tookey
2019 - Cheryl Smith
2018 - David Newman
2017 - Chris Tandy Jr

Another Wow not to be proud of!

So if we can’t fill up in Saltash, and we’re definitely not filling up in Launceston, where is the best place to go?

The most expensive spot to fill up your tank in Cornwall right now is in Saltash - for a whopping 165.9p per litre 🚨

Loving the look of this... Should really help!

Screen Print Exhibition at Saltash Studios

Local Artist Karon Matten showcases her vibrant screen prints in a free Pop-Up exhibition on 15-18 April, open daily 10am-4pm.

This colourful and engaging exhibition invites visitors to discover Karon Matten’s striking screen-printed works.

Karon’s prints of animals and flowers are brought vividly to life through bold, exotic colour palettes and richly textured, hand-selected papers and delicate gold foiling. Her distinctive style combines careful craftsmanship with a joyful exploration of colour, form and life.

Many of the works on display have been created at Saltash Studios over the past year, offering an insight into the artist’s creative process and her connection to the local arts community.

A selection of prints will be available for purchase, giving visitors the opportunity to take home an original piece of Karon’s work.

Entry to the exhibition is free and booking is not required 🥰

Completely the wrong kind of WOW!

That's two sets of toilets now closed in Saltash due to vandalism in the last week or so.

The council does all they can to try and stop this behaviour but what would you do?
