Pixi, one of our female meerkats, has claimed the best seat in the park for her morning sunbathe!

Meerkats love warm weather and can often be seen stretched out in the sunshine before heading off to dig burrows, search for tasty insects and take their turn on lookout duty.

🐾 Prairie Dog Baby Boom! 🐾

If you haven’t stopped by our prairie dog enclosure recently, now is the perfect time!

The last month or so has seen a real baby boom, and the youngsters are finally becoming much more independent. Prairie dog pups spend their first 4–6 weeks safely underground, so many of the little ones you can now spot popping out of the burrows are around 2–3 months old.

There’s always something happening in the colony – whether they’re digging, playing, keeping watch, or chattering to one another. Their busy social lives make them one of the most entertaining groups of animals to watch, and with so many youngsters exploring above ground, there’s even more activity than usual!

Come and see what all the fuss is about on your next visit. You never know what you’ll spot! 🐾

Enkai was enjoying her breakfast so much that she didn’t notice she’d accessorised with a piece of sweetcorn on her nose! 😂

Beyond being adorable, sloths are home to one of nature’s most fascinating partnerships. Their fur is adapted to trap moisture, encouraging algae and fungi growth and creating a habitat for tiny invertebrates such as moths.

🐾 World Lynx Day 🐾

Did you know a Eurasian lynx can spot a mouse from 75 metres away? 👀

These elusive wild cats are Europe’s largest lynx species and are perfectly adapted for life in the wild, with thick coats, snowshoe-like paws and incredible stealth. Males can even travel up to 20km in a single night while patrolling their territory!

Today we’re celebrating these fascinating felines and the conservation efforts helping to protect them for future generations.
