🌟 Volunteers’ Week Spotlight: Sarah 🌟

This Volunteers’ Week, we're delighted to celebrate Sarah and the passion, empathy and commitment she brings to Daisy’s Dream.

Sarah shares:

"I have always felt a need to help others or get involved with a community, outside of my normal life. Daisy’s Dream is a charity that is available to the young people I support in my normal working life as a Deputy Safeguarding Lead. So, I thought I would combine the 2. I also had experienced the death of both my parents, when they were both still quite young – so also felt an affinity to how it feels to not have parents in your life anymore.
I really enjoy getting involved in the fundraising and awareness side of Daisy’s Dream. When I come back from an event my heart feels fuller; there is always someone that wants to tell me about the effect Daisy’s Dream has had on them or someone they know. I see the daily struggle of children that have had a parent die before they should have, and wanted to try and make a difference to those lives."

Thank you, Sarah, for making a difference and helping ensure that no child faces bereavement alone. We are incredibly grateful for the time, energy and compassion she gives to help raise awareness and support our work.

🌟 Volunteers’ Week Spotlight: Duncan 🌟

This Volunteers’ Week, we're proud to celebrate Duncan, who has just completed an incredible 26 years of volunteering with Daisy's Dream.

Duncan shares:

"I have just completed 26 years of volunteering with Daisy's Dream and I can honestly say that of the four charities that I have volunteered for, I have found it the most rewarding. Working with the children and young people always reminds me of how lucky I was to have both parents alive throughout my formative years. There have been lots of examples of where I felt that Daisy's Dream has really made a difference to a family. I recall one mother telling me at an event, that her son's behaviour had radically improved since he attended a day at Ufton Court with the charity. I also have a memory of a little girl whose father had died, grabbing my hand at the Christmas event and leading me around all the stalls while watched by her mother. Even now, I find that very moving. Finally, the culture of the charity has always suited me in that the focus of staff and volunteers alike, is helping the bereaved families, with no thought egos or competition getting in the way."

Thank you, Duncan, for your extraordinary dedication, kindness and commitment over more than two decades. Your compassion and service have helped make a lasting difference to so many young lives.

This Volunteers’ Week, we want to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to every single person who gives their time, energy and compassion to Daisy’s Dream.

From supporting children and families directly, to helping at fundraising events, baking cakes, cheering runners on, or spreading awareness of our work, our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Quite simply, we could not do it without you.

Every conversation, every event, every hour volunteered helps us continue supporting children and young people who are facing the bereavement of someone important in their lives.

To all of our volunteers — thank you for standing beside Daisy’s Dream and the families we support. Your time truly changes lives.

10 years and 10 marathons. One incredible tribute.

Today Frankie will run her 10th marathon, exactly 10 years to the day since losing her mum.

Frankie first came to Daisy’s Dream for support when she was just 14 years old, following her mum’s death. Frankie has taken on the extraordinary challenge of running 10 marathons in 12 months to give back and help support other children and families facing bereavement.

From her first marathon in Cork to this final milestone, Frankie’s determination, courage and compassion have inspired us every step of the way.

Frankie, we are so proud of everything you’ve achieved, and so grateful for your support. Your mum would be incredibly proud too.

Please join us in congratulating Frankie on this amazing achievement and you can still support her and donate here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/10for10?utm_medium=FA&utm_source=CL

As we celebrate 30 years of Daisy’s Dream, we’re taking time to reflect on the real impact of our work — the lives touched, the families supported, and the strength built through community.

Darcey, who was supported by Daisy’s Dream after the sudden loss of her dad, kindly shared her experience:

"When I was 18 my dad died suddenly of a heart attack. I was still under sixth form at this time and they put us in contact with Daisy's Dream. Daisy's Dream support both my sister and I through the lovely Wendy. Wendy would call me weekly and check in with me and she supported me through the darkest time of my life. Without Wendy I don't know if i would be here today. Wendy helped me realise there was life after losing someone and really really helped me understand my grief. Wendy was absolutely amazing and continued to support me while I went to university in the September. Daisy's Dream is such an amazing charity that I will forever hold close to my heart and thank for supporting me during that that time. Every child going through a bereavement should have the right support to help them through this!"

Stories like Darcey’s remind us why Daisy’s Dream exists and why this support matters so deeply. - Thank you for allowing us to share this.

If Daisy’s Dream has made a difference in your life, we’d love to hear from you.
