This summer, we were delighted to welcome families supported by Daisy’s Dream to a special day out at Dinton Pastures Country Park.

For families experiencing bereavement, finding opportunities to simply spend time together, have fun and make positive memories can be incredibly valuable. Our Family Days give children and their parents or carers the chance to step away from the everyday challenges of grief and enjoy time together in a relaxed and supportive environment. From exploring the park, archery, climbing and more, the day was all about connection and creating happy memories.

We know that grief doesn't take a break during the school holidays, and for some families, the summer months can bring additional challenges. Days like this provide an opportunity for children to enjoy being children, while parents and carers can meet others who may understand their experiences.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day possible.

We really appreciated receiving this feedback from a parent that attended;
"Thank you very much for inviting my girls to the activity day at Dinton Pastures last week. They really enjoyed the archery and low ropes, it was lots of fun. And it was really beneficial for them be around the other families. I think it makes a huge difference for them to spend time with other children who have been through something similar to them."

We’re incredibly proud of our wonderful Therapeutic Practitioner, Philippa, and the difference she makes to the families we support.

It means so much when families take the time to share their experience, thank you for sharing these kind words:

“Our family has been through some incredibly dark and difficult times, and throughout them Philippa has been both a light and a rock for us. When everything around us has seemed very dark and we have felt alone, your kindness, understanding and unwavering support have helped give us the courage and motivation to keep going. Knowing that you and Daisy’s Dream have continued to stand beside our family has meant more than I can ever fully express. Thank you.”

Philippa, thank you for everything you do.

We’re absolutely delighted to have been nominated for a BBC Make a Difference Award 2026 in the ‘Community Group Award’ category!

This award recognises a group of people who have helped to genuinely change the lives of others within their community, so to be shortlisted is a huge honour for everyone at Daisy’s Dream.

Last week, our CEO Laura had the pleasure of joining Alex Grundon on BBC Radio Berkshire to talk about being shortlisted for the awards and, most importantly, about the work we do at Daisy’s Dream.

Laura shared more about how we support children and young people affected by bereavement, and the difference our support can make to children and families during some of the most difficult times in their lives.

We hope that, if you are grieving or supporting a child who is, Laura’s words may offer some reassurance, support and comfort.

Want to listen back? You can hear the interview on BBC Sounds here (Skip to around 2 hours 12 minutes (ish!)):

A huge thank you to BBC Radio Berkshire for shining a light on the importance of supporting bereaved children and young people and to everyone who nominated us. It means so much.
