Wow. What an absolutely unforgettable afternoon at Reading Station! 🚂🎶

​A massive thank you to everyone who stopped by the transfer deck, clapped along, filmed us, and to the incredibly brave souls who stepped up to the podium to conduct a full 7l60-piece symphony orchestra. You were brilliant! Massive thanks also to the wonderful GWR station staff for welcoming us so warmly.

Calling all Wokingham residents and neighbours! Looking for something spectacular and inspiring to do right on your doorstep this Sunday afternoon? 🇪🇸⛪🎻

With the weekend of the World Cup final upon us, we’ll all be throwing our support behind Spain - so why not get into the spirit with some incredible live music with a Spanish flavour, here in town?

This Sunday (19th July) at 4:30 pm, the Aldworth Philharmonic Orchestra (APO) is coming to All Saints Church for 🎶 ¡Arriba at All Saints! - Wokingham

We are performing a brilliant, high-energy Spanish-themed programme. Think the full, fiery splendour of Bizet’s Carmen Suites, Chabrier’s España, and Rimsky-Korsakov's dazzling Capriccio Espagnol.

Why join us?

⛪ A stunning local setting: All Saints offers a wonderful atmosphere and fantastic acoustics to experience the full power of a live 60-piece symphony orchestra.

🍷 Drinks bar open from 3:45 pm: Arrive early, grab a glass of wine or a soft drink, and catch up with friends and neighbours before the music starts.

🎟️ "Concert Virgin" scheme: If you (or someone you know) live in the area and have never been to a classical concert before, you can claim a completely FREE ticket to come and try it out!

Sunday's ticket sales directly support the orchestra and fund our ongoing community and educational outreach work across Berkshire.

📸 Final prep is underway!

Since it looks like we’ll all be throwing our support behind Spain this weekend anyway, we’re getting into the spirit early... ⚽

The orchestra is sounding absolutely fantastic as we head into our final rehearsals, shaping up a brilliant, high-energy Spanish-themed programme.

Here is how you can join the fiesta this weekend:

🎺 Saturday: 🌞 ¡Fiesta on the Footbridge! at Reading Station Reading Station (3:00 pm). A free, lively pop-up performance right on the transfer deck. It's spontaneous, fun, and you can even have a go at conducting us!

⛪ Sunday: 🎶 ¡Arriba at All Saints! - Wokingham All Saints, Wokingham (4:30 pm). Settle in, grab a drink from the bar, and lose yourself in the gorgeous, cool acoustics for the full, uninterrupted concert.

Yesterday's rehearsal was a hot one! 🥵 Phil from Cheeselogs was there taking photos and interviewing Andrew. We're looking forward to seeing them and hoping they're better than the conductor cam footage Andrew tried to get, which sadly didn't work as intended. 😭

All this hard work is for our events coming up this weekend - the forecast for which is looking mercifully cooler! 🌤️

We're bringing a fiesta of orchestral colour to two fantastic venues:

🎶 Saturday 18th July, 3pm: 🌞 ¡Fiesta on the Footbridge! at Reading Station It's completely FREE—just ask the gateline staff to let you through to the transfer deck. You might even get a chance to conduct us!

⛪ Sunday 19th July, 4.30pm: 🎶 ¡Arriba at All Saints! - Wokingham. A relaxed, conventional concert setting complete with bar, good company and terrific music!

Expect vibrant rhythms from Bizet's Carmen, Chabrier, Saint-Saëns (featuring the brilliant young soloist Shree Rao), and Rimsky-Korsakov! 🇪🇸✨

Rehearsals have officially started for our upcoming summer performances, and the energy in the room was fantastic! 🎶 We’re working hard on preparing a wonderful, uplifting Spanish-themed programme, especially for our main concert:

🎶 ¡Arriba at All Saints! - Wokingham on Sunday 19th July at 4.30pm – a colourful, lively concert inside the beautiful All Saints Church, Wokingham. This is our full, ticketed performance for the weekend, and we'd love your support in filling the church! Tell your friends, put the date in your diary, and head to apo.org.uk to book your tickets now.

Ahead of that, we will also be performing 🌞 ¡Fiesta on the Footbridge! at Reading Station on the transfer deck at Reading Station on Saturday 18th July from 3pm. It’s a free pop-up event, so if you're travelling through or out and about in town, come along and enjoy some vibrant orchestral music with us!

It was great to have our MD, Andrew, back on the podium for the first time since October. To celebrate the occasion, he took these obligatory selfies capturing the beaming smiles of the band.

Ah, Easter Monday Bank Holiday! The perfect day for doing all those jobs you've been putting off for months - like taking the music from the last concert back to the APO storage unit that we have access to thanks to our friends at Big Yellow Self Storage.

After a quiet couple of months, we're gearing up for string and wind workshops, this coming Sunday, as well as events with a distinctly Spanish 🇪🇸 flavour at Reading station and All Saints Wokingham, in July.¡Arriba!
