Yesterday, we headed to Carlisle Racecourse for another fantastic day as the racecourse’s Charity of the Year. 🏇

Stephanie, Lucie and Gill were there throughout the day, chatting to racegoers about the work of the Army Benevolent Fund, raising awareness and generating vital funds through the activities on the stand.

And there was a new addition to the North West ABF fundraising repertoire… 🦆🎯

If you’ve visited one of the Army Benevolent Fund’s stands before, you’ll probably have spotted our very popular camouflage rubber ducks. They’ve become a firm favourite with supporters, so the team thought: why just sell the ducks when you can turn them into a game too?!

Enter Hook-a-Duck! 🦆

The game proved a huge hit with families attending the racecourse, keeping children entertained throughout the day — and there were plenty of return customers coming back for another go in the hope of winning a prize!

Every duck hooked helped raise funds for the Army Benevolent Fund, making it a fun (if not a bit quackers!) way to support the charity while enjoying the family day out.

It was brilliant to see so many people engaging with the stand and learning more about how the ABF supports soldiers, veterans and their families. The team is proud to be working alongside Carlisle Racecourse throughout this year’s race season and is looking forward to plenty more opportunities to meet racegoers and raise funds together.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by, had a go at Hook-a-Duck, entered the raffle or simply took the time to chat with the team. 💚

And, of course… the camouflage ducks will be back! 🦆

🇬🇧 Lytham 1940s Festival 🇬🇧

What a fantastic weekend at the Lytham 1940s Festival!

Our wonderful Lancashire Committee (including our very own 'Land Girl' Brenda!) were out in force across the weekend, raising funds for the Army Benevolent Fund through our merchandise stall and, just as importantly, chatting to members of the public and raising awareness of the vital support ABF provides to serving soldiers, veterans and their families.

On Sunday afternoon, Events Assistant Lucie and Events Executive Gill also headed along to join the committee — and they certainly got into the spirit of the occasion! 😄

Dressed in their best 1940s-style outfits, they spent the afternoon wandering around the festival, chatting with attendees about the work of ABF and taking in the fantastic military vehicles, displays and other stands around the event.

Of course, they couldn’t resist getting a few photographs with some of the impressive military kit while they were there! 📸

It was brilliant to see so many people embracing the 1940s theme and showing such a keen interest in the Armed Forces, military history and the work of the Army Benevolent Fund.

A huge thank you to our Lancashire Committee for representing ABF throughout the weekend and helping us raise both funds and awareness. ❤️
