Oxfam Preston is on the lookout for a Social Media Volunteer to take over from yours truly! Sounds like something you might be interested in?

What we're after is someone who loves books (obvsly) and also loves social media and is looking for some experience to bolster their CV. This is a very relaxed volunteer role and is really flexible around your schedule! You'll be making great bookish content for our Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook feeds and responding to customer enquiries when they come in.

Maybe you're a student who wants to go into the publishing industry or to gain a full time role in social media or marketing? Maybe you want to volunteer in some way but are a little on the shy side? This would be great for you.

Come in and have a chat with us to find out more!

Good news! We have more miniatures! Including an impossibly small War and Peace. There's abridged, and then there's *abridged*. Must be made from the same stuff as the Tardis, obviously. Only logical conclusion.

Now, is it just us or does this cover also remind you of a certain, quake-in-your-boots terrifying episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

Swipe for reference (if you can bear it.)

Blimey, that's a lot of Blyton.

ROLL UP, ROLL UP!

We're on the lookout for some fresh blood to join us here at Oxfam Books Preston. We have a range of areas that need volunteers to donate some of their time each week.

Love chatting to people? Come help us out on the till!

Know your stuff when it comes to books? Help us sort and price our donations!

Not much of a people person? No worries, you can hang out in the office and help us list books for the online shop.

Not sure what you'd like to do but know you want to help? Pop in and have a chat with us and we can see where you'd fit best. We're a super friendly bunch of folks.

Ask in store for a volunteer form or go to www.oxfam.org.uk/get-involved/volunteer-with-us

We shared this on our stories recently but it's too pretty not to go on the grid.

The Incredible Journey is a 1961 children's book by Scottish author Sheila Burnford, which tells the story of three pets as they travel 300 miles through the Canadian wilderness in search of their beloved owners.

Burnford based the fictional story on the animals she and her husband owned while living in Canada: a Bull Terrier brought from England; a Siamese cat whose mutual relationship with the terrier she described as "closer than any other cat-and-dog relationship I had ever seen"; and a young Labrador Retriever.

It was first adapted by Disney in 1963, and was then remade in 1993.

Have you ever read it?
