Ready to play with light and shadow in a new way? Light Space Color are here as part of Portland Fair in That Other Place 2026.

Founded by Peter Hudson and Dawn Parsonage, they create experimental, interactive installations that invite audiences to play with light, shadow, and colour.

Working across photography, sculpture, and immersive environments, their practice often draws on archives and participation to connect communities with history and perception. Their work has been exhibited internationally, including at Tate St Ives and the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art.

Fancy your chances at rescuing oversized lucky charms from an inflatable pit of destiny?
Let us introduce you to artist Helen Grant who will enable festival goers to do this very thing! Helen uses a variety of means and materials to produce wryly humorous objects and installations. She is interested in the absurd, and in the relationships between comedy and pathos, colour and form. Her current studies at The Royal College of Art focus on the performative potential of sculptural objects, linking absurdist actions with anarchist philosophy.
We won't tell more now, but expect to get far too invested in an almost impossible task and experience some dramatic near-misses. You'll have to come to b-side to find out more!

Do you remember the Portland Fair? 🎡🎠

As we get ready for That Other Place Festival 2026, we’d love to hear your memories of the fair - the rides, the music, the people, the stories, the chaos, the laughs… whatever stuck with you over the years.

Write your memories in the comments and send us your old photos 📸

Included here is a brilliant photo from local Mark Jackson, along with one of his memories from the fair.

Are you excited for the festival this year?
