Andrew Simpson Foundation : The Sailing Charity

Andrew Simpson Foundation : The Sailing Charity Welcome to the Andrew Simpson Foundation official page. The Founding trustees are Sir Ben Ainslie, Iain Percy OBE and Andrew’s wife Leah.

The Andrew Simpson Foundation was founded in memory of, and inspired by, Olympic Gold medallist, sailor Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson. We give thousands of young people the opportunity to enjoy and benefit from the life changing challenges of sailing. Participating in sailing and watersports builds self-confidence, develops essential life skills and enhances young people’s wellbeing. We believe that every

single young person deserves to feel confident, be healthy, and know their worth. We’re passionate about making sailing available to every child, teenager, and young adult because it can do all of this and much more. Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation is a company limited by guarantee and registered charity in England & Wales No 1152060.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Community Watersports Festival in Portsmouth on Saturday!

While the weather meant we had to adapt some of our plans, it was fantastic to see so many people still come together to enjoy the day, meet our Pride of Portsmouth Lion, Leo, Jewel of the Sea, and hear about our Connected Communities project, in partnership with Greenwich Hospital, for the first time.

If you'd like to know more about Connected Communities and keep up to date as the project evolves, you can sign up here

Deepening impact in our communities 💙

2025 was a year of strong delivery, learning and strategic focus for ASF.

We concentrated on deepening impact in priority communities while piloting new approaches that respond to evolving needs particularly around wellbeing, sustainability, and early engagement with skills and careers.

Our focus has been on growing reach, stronger inclusion and meaningful change, while maintaining the warmth and inspiration at the heart of everything we do in our communities.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re celebrating the positive impact being on the water can have on wellbeing 🙌

Time spent sailing and taking part in watersports can help build confidence, resilience, connection and a sense of calm, especially for young people navigating everyday challenges 💫

We’re proud to see these moments happen every day across the Andrew Simpson Foundation, helping more people feel part of a community both on and off the water 💙

If you’re struggling, remember you don’t have to face things alone. Reaching out to someone you trust, spending time outdoors, or connecting with your community can make a real difference.

Today, on the anniversary of Bart’s passing, we’re proud to be announced as the Purpose Partner of Artemis SailGP.

This partnership is about creating opportunity through sailing and watersports, opening pathways for young people, building confidence and resilience, and helping more communities connect with the water.

Together, we’ll be combining meaningful environmental action with programmes that inspire, educate and empower the next generation, continuing the legacy that Bart believed in so deeply: making sailing more accessible, inclusive and impactful for all.
