We drive social change for one of societies most excluded groups. When most people think about helping others, prisoners aren’t often the ‘others’ they choose.

Creating a society in which young people who are, or at risk of being, part of the criminal justice system have the same chance of succeeding, as with everyone else, regardless of their starting point. You only have to read the news to discover that most people think prisoners are ‘bad people’ who have brought their situation on themselves. How easy it is to judge from a distance! Over half of peo

ple released from prison are reconvicted within a year, many are back inside within a few weeks. 100 & First Foundation’s model was established on the premise that it is often not the lack of ambition, but rather a lack of confidence, knowledge and continuity of support that prevents prison-leavers from overcoming challenges and realising their potential, ultimately reoffending. When working with our people, we model stability amid the chaos. Through consistency of support both sides of the gate, we enable our people to make a tangible, lasting change in how they think about and participate in society.

👑 We were honoured to meet His Majesty The King and Her Majesty Queen Camilla during their Royal Visit to Blandford on 16th July.

🤝 It was a privilege to share our work with His Majesty and discuss the importance of investing in young people before they reach crisis point.

💬 Our conversation focused on the need for long-term, sustainable support that helps young people build positive relationships, raise their aspirations, and create brighter futures. By intervening early, we can reduce the number of young people entering the criminal justice system and help them realise their potential.

💛 We're incredibly grateful for the opportunity to highlight the challenges facing young people across Dorset and to showcase the work being delivered by our team and partners.

Every young person has potential.💛

Across the country, schools are supporting children with increasingly complex needs. Through our partnership with Budmouth Academy, our Level Up programme provides early intervention for young people at risk of disengaging from education - helping them build resilience, develop positive relationships, and believe in a future beyond the challenges they face.

This film tells the story of one young person whose life could have taken a very different path. With the support of trusted adults and opportunities to succeed, he's rebuilding his confidence, reconnecting with education, and creating a brighter future.

His story is a powerful reminder that early intervention changes lives.

When young people receive the right support at the right time, they're more likely to stay engaged in school, avoid exploitation and violence, and build positive futures away from the criminal justice system.

We're proud to deliver Level Up with the support of BBC Children in Need, working alongside schools to ensure every young person has the opportunity to thrive.

Because every young person deserves someone who believes in them - before it's too late.

When young people are trusted with responsibility, they often exceed expectations. 💛

As part of our Level Up programme, students identified ways they wanted to improve their learning space and took ownership of making it happen.

Each student researched an idea, compared costs, sourced suppliers and prepared a pitch explaining why their proposal would benefit the group. Their ideas included art supplies, board games, LEGO, a punch bag, and a refreshed colour scheme to create a more welcoming environment.

The group then presented their proposals to Mr Pring, Kitz and Jay, demonstrating impressive teamwork, collaboration and the courage to speak in front of others.

We’re delighted that their hard work paid off, with the group receiving £100 in Amazon vouchers and £100 in cash to help bring their ideas to life.

This wasn’t just about redesigning a room—it was about building confidence, developing communication skills and showing what’s possible when young people are given the opportunity to lead.

🌟 It was a privilege to be part of the final Dorset Alex Blower Hub meeting of the academic year. 🌟

At 100 & First Foundation, we were proud to contribute to the evening by sharing our experiences of working with young people who face significant barriers, and how early intervention, trusted relationships and lived experience can help create positive, lasting change.

The discussions reinforced something we see every day: no single organisation has all the answers. By bringing together schools, charities, public services and community organisations, we can learn from one another, strengthen our approaches and create better outcomes for boys and young men across Dorset.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend, contribute and engage in such open and honest conversations. It’s always encouraging to be in a room full of people who share a commitment to giving every young person the opportunity to thrive.

We’re looking forward to continuing these conversations when the Dorset Boys Impact Hub returns next academic year and building even stronger partnerships that make a real difference.

Today, our CEO Sam Cload had the privilege of speaking at Harmony 5: Creating Health and Harmony Through Education.

Bringing together educators, community leaders, charities, businesses and changemakers from across Dorset, the conference explored how education can help create healthier individuals, stronger communities and a more harmonious society.

Speaking on Prison Education and Second Chances, Sam shared insights from our work supporting young people across education and the justice system, highlighting the importance of relationships, belonging and opportunities for positive identity change.

A huge thank you to Harmony, Professor Michael Dooley LVO, and everyone involved in creating such an inspiring day of learning, collaboration and conversation.

Because when we invest in people, provide opportunities and believe in second chances, positive futures become possible. 💛

100 & First Foundation is looking for a proactive, people-focused Project Lead to run our Level Up mentoring and intervention programme with young people at The Bourne Academy.

You’ll build strong relationships with students, parents, school staff and partners, deliver one-to-one and group sessions, manage safeguarding and outcomes, and help shape a programme that makes a real impact every day.

You’ll suit this role if you have:

Experience working with young people
Strong safeguarding awareness
Great communication skills and the ability to build trust
Confidence working independently and managing a varied caseload
