Win on Waste

We were so pleased that our Corfe Mullen WoW team were honoured at the Volunteer Centre Dorset awards on Friday evening - it's a testament to no only the hard work they put in on our behalf, but to the community they have helped to build at St Nicholas' Church every month.

Congratulations to them!

Dorset Scrapstore is hiring!

We collect several items which are directed to Scrapstore, but they also always have a great stock of items donated by businesses, or swapped from other Scrapstores, which can be handy - I know I've bought folder covers and photo frames from them in the past, all of which would have otherwise been headed to the bin!

We're looking for a Store Assistant to work Wednesdays, Sundays and every other Saturday. If you're creative and would like to join our friendly team, look at our website for more details.

We're also looking for trustees. These are volunteer roles, where you will be involved in shaping the future of our charity.

For details of all roles, see our website:

Fun Fact Friday - it turns out that each year in the UK over 600 million household batteries are sent to landfill, which is the same weight as 3,666 Tyrannosaurus Rex’s!
I had to include this one after I found it - my main question apart from why are you binning those batteries (please stop) is how does anyone know how much a T Rex weighs?

Fun Fact Friday – a final fun fact for Second Hand September – 84% of us are buying secondhand items, which is great news (what’s stopping the rest of you!) – what are you favourite things to buy second hand? Personally I buy all my clothes second hand and most of my books.
