What does child sponsorship actually look like? This short video gives you a glimpse into life in the Namatala slum and the difference your support makes.

Your sponsorship really does matter. And this month, every new child sponsorship taken out will be doubled by a generous donor — right up until December. So, if you sponsor a child for £15 a month, that becomes £30 of support! Double the impact, double the love.

You'll receive a photo, regular updates, and if you wish, you can correspond with your child too — if not, that’s ok! Visit the link in the comments to find out more.

Know someone who might want to sponsor a child? Give this a share and help us spread the word!

Sylvia is four years old. She lives with her mum and three siblings in a one-room mud house in the Namatala slum — one dark room for sleeping, dressing, eating, and everything in between.

The children sleep on the dirt floor on blankets and a papyrus mat. There's no electricity, so evenings are lit by a small torch. Meals are cooked outside.

Sylvia's mum is resourceful and hardworking. She collects maize that has fallen from passing trucks, selling some and grinding the rest into posho (a bit like mash) to feed her family. When she's saved enough to fill a 100kg sack, she makes the journey to Karamoja, where she can sell it for a better price — a huge effort to help keep her family fed.

Sylvia has just joined the nursery class at CoH, but she doesn't yet have a sponsor. For £15 a month, you could be her sponsor — receiving regular updates and letters, supporting Sylvia’s education and that of every child at Child of Hope. And right now, every new child sponsorship is being matched by a generous donor — so your £15 becomes £30 of support each month up until December! Double the love, double the difference. 🧡

Rachel is one of our longest-standing sponsors, a regular visitor to Uganda, and a brilliant fundraiser for COH here in the UK. This week she's back in Namatala, and she wanted to share what she found. She writes:

"Today I had the privilege of being shown around the slum community and into the homes of the boys my family sponsors. I was treated with such warmth and welcome - it was humbling and moving in equal measure.

Going into one home brought me to tears. A stark, empty room barely 3m x 3m, a damp mud floor, the family of 5 sleeping on some old sponge, not even a mattress. And yet the children were happy, joyful, and full of energy. Their mum works incredibly hard - cleaning, digging, washing - whatever it takes to earn a little and put food on the table. The whole family had so much love to give.

It's so eye-opening to see it for yourself. And it's a reminder of why sponsorship matters so much - not as charity handed down, but as a real and lasting connection between two families across the world. Ours, and theirs."

If you've ever thought about sponsoring a child’s education, now is a great time. Every new child sponsorship during June is being matched — so your £15 a month becomes £30 of support, right up until December! Double the love, double the difference. 🧡 Ready to sponsor? The link is in the comments!

Swipe to see how our new hostel is taking shape — but first, meet the boys helping to build it! 👉

While the school holidays might mean a break from the classroom, three of our COH boys have been anything but idle — they've been helping build the very rooms that future students will call home.

John, Abey, and Raphael have been lending their skills to the work on our new hostel building this holiday, and getting paid for it, too. We love that!

John (who completed S4 with us last year and is now studying building construction) is saving his earnings for a phone to help with his studies — and a trowel, because a future civil engineer needs his tools.

Abey, currently in S3, will put his wages straight towards exercise books. He's got his sights set on nursing.

And Raphael, in S2, is planning to spend his on school shoes, books, and paper — the essentials for an aspiring electrical engineer.

Three young men, one building site, and a very clear sense of where they're headed. We couldn't be prouder!

Three years old, and already navigating more than most of us ever will.

Verline lives with her grandmother and six other relatives in a small mud-and-wood home in Uganda. Her mum left, her dad isn't around, and it's her grandmother — taking on whatever digging or farm work she can find — who holds everything together. There's no electricity, one mattress between them all, and meals cooked over an open fire.

She's little, but her need is real.

This month, Child of Hope is running Double the Love, where every new child sponsorship is matched, so your support goes twice as far for children like Verline. For just £15 a month, you can give her an education, access to healthcare and welfare, and a real shot at a future beyond the one she was born into. You'll receive a photo, regular updates, and the knowledge that you're helping to shape a child's life.

To sponsor this little one, please visit the link in the comments and quote ‘Verline’ on our sponsor form. 🧡

The holidays are supposed to be a time to rest, but these amazing teachers had other ideas!

They gave up their own holiday time to explore the difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset, putting that learning into action by creating bespoke posters for every class.

Seeing teachers model the very thing they're teaching – a growth mindset – is truly special. A huge thank you to every single one of them for their hard work, enthusiasm, and commitment to their students (and a special thank you to Lucy, our educator advisor, for facilitating the training!). 🙌 👏

Meet Phiona. She came to Child of Hope at just five years old, raised by her grandmother in Namatala. Today, she's a talented songwriter, a student at our secondary school, and an inspiration to everyone who meets her.

In her own words, she tells us what Child of Hope has meant to her – and where her music is taking her.

Phiona would love to find a sponsor! If you would like to support her for £25 p/m, please contact us for more details.

(Phiona's 'Song for Child of Hope' at the end of the video is based on 'You were there for me' by Henry Moodie)

🎵 Meet Faima!

Faima is 13, the youngest of three children and lives with her mum, who works hard as a casual labourer to provide for the family. She loves music and singing, does brilliantly in maths and science, and one day hopes to become a nurse, which really suits her caring nature perfectly.

She's waiting for a sponsor, and it could be you!

For £15 a month, you'd be supporting Faima and helping to fund education, healthcare and essential services for all the children at Child of Hope's school in Uganda. You'll receive letters, photos and school reports from Faima – and the knowledge that your giving goes further than you might think.

Interested? Find out how sponsorship works via the link in the comments, or just drop us a message and we'll answer any questions. 💛

Already a sponsor? You can still help – just hit like and share, and let's find Faima her person! 🙌
