Supporting us to raise vital funds and awareness helps us to help more animals in need. You can support Woodlands by donating securely at https://app.donorfy.com/form/SOK1GM5P83/Urgent-Appeal-1Aug24 or https://www.woodlandsanimalsanctuary.org.uk/donate/donate-online/. The sanctuary is a registered charity that was created in February 2005 in its original format as a charitable trust but now operat

es as a charitable incorporated organisation. Woodlands was set up in order to care for unwanted and neglected farm animals, small domestic animals and species of native wildlife. The purpose of Woodlands Animal Sanctuary is as follows:-

"To relieve the suffering of animals of any species who are in need of care and attention, and in particular to provide or maintain refuge, secure homes, sanctuaries or other facilities for the reception and care of unwanted animals and the treatment of sick or ill-treated animals." The sanctuary's objectives are:
1. To rescue unwanted, ill-treated, abandoned or neglected animals.
2. The rehabilitation of these animals.
3. To provide residential care, or wherever possible to foster out these animals into a secure, permanent and loving environment.
4. To educate, and provide support and advice to the general public in the care of domestic animals.
5. To provide opportunities to everyone including people with mental health issues and special needs. There are several local Shelters that cater for unwanted dogs and cats, but very few that cater for smaller domestic animals, farm birds, farm animals, wildlife and equines. The team have a wealth of experience in caring for these animals and all this expertise can only benefit the animals at the sanctuary and provide them with the safe, secure and stimulating environment that they deserve. HOWEVER……

None of this will be achievable without continued support from you - the people local to the sanctuary. The sanctuary receives no government funding or financial support from a national charity and thus are entirely dependent on the goodwill of private benefactors and local businesses. Every day brings new challenges to our small purse; food, bedding, heating, not to mention veterinary fees. All our animals have at least their first vaccinated, are microchipped and all adult cats will be neutered prior to being re-homed. Many of our long-term resident cats and farm animals are on permanent medication and we have a biweekly vet visit to monitor the overall health of all our animals. The team are committed to caring for these animals. It is an ongoing struggle just to maintain and care for the animals already in our care. But despite this, during the last 19 years, we have achieved leaps and bounds! We have built a new stable block, a state of the art cattery and a new hedgehog unit, meaning that we can take in more animals and provide them with the best care. Our future ambitions include working more with our local community and providing a preventative service, so we won't just be a cure for the problem. Due to your never ending support, we were able to meet our goals, but we know that you will help us meet our next goal. So please don't keep us a secret. Tell your friends and family about the sanctuary and ask them to help us help these animals as well. We appreciate you all so much!

We have got a very exciting event for you! 👀

You know all those fabulous clothes and accessories we have had donated for our shops?
..well, we're going to put a stunning collection together and showcase them for you and some of our wonderful team are even going to put themselves completely out of their comfort zones for the cause and model them for you!

When, we hear you say? Friday 17th July, at Ormskirk Civic Hall, from 7pm with the show starting at half past.

Real Women wearing real style that has been donated by our supporter for our supporters and of course, all of this is to raise vital funds for the vulnerable & often poorly animals who so desperately need our help.

Just your ticket will help to feed a weaning litter of kittens for nearly 2 days. Every penny you spend after that will provide even more life saving care to the cats & kittens in our care. Not to mention our ponies who still need their feed and vitamins & Minerals during the summer months when there is more grass available, the goats who come in at night to fluffy beds to snuggle into & the ducks and hens who it feels like can eat us out of house & home of seeds, demolish the enrichment activities we give them and can generally also cause chaos, often strutting around the site like they own the place! 😂

The price of your ticket includes some nibbles on the night & we have some super stalls coming, which you will be able to peruse and spoil yourself with their quality, often bespoke products.

Grab your friends and a ticket to make sure you don't miss out on this fabulous evening of fashion, friends & fundraising.

And if nothing else, please come along to support the team, who will be strutting their stuff (well walking with as much confidence as they can find without tripping) to show off the amazing items we are very lucky to get donated, to help you find your bargains of the summer.

Do you fancy some retail therapy this weekend?

Not only that, do you fancy changing vulnerable and oftern poorly animals lives with your shopping?

Come and shop at any of our 4 charity shops and Community Hubs and you will be doing just that! 🐾

All the profits from our Community Hubs comes straight back here to provide the care, nutrition, shelter & chance of a happy ever after that these abandoned animals deserve.

Your purchases help us keep the lights on and shine a light on these animals lives. Some of whom have witnessed suffering & upset that we simply can't imagine.

Your shopping will help Clive, who came to us as stray with no known history. A five year old, beautiful ginger boy, who was in quite good condition though, so it's also possible that he was abandoned. 😢 He has settled well and seems fairly uncomplicated - bless him!

We have shops in the Concourse in Skem, Eastbank Street Southport, Wheatsheaf Walk Ormskirk & Market Street Chorley. Open saturday and Sunday over the weekend.

Please check out each individual shops FB pages for individual opening times.

Wow! In all that bank holiday heat yesterday the fabulous Clockwork Gibbons were working hard at a pop up performance in Formby! 🎶

Between them and their supporters they have raised a superb £252 for the animals in our care. This will provide an essential microchip, vaccinations and worming and flea treatments for ove 4 cats. Bam! Just like that, 4 cats like Clive, can get the care they need to begin their next chapter and steps towards a better life. One filled with security, love and home comforts.

Thank you Clockwork Gibbons for doing this and to all your fans and supporters - thank you too! You have all made this happen. And of course to for hosting this pop up event too. ☕️

🤫We have heard that this may not be the last pop up event this great band do, so keep an ear open and if we hear anything, we'll be sure to let you know so you can go along & listen to some fabulous live music.

Would you like to be part of something special?

Harkness Roses, whose blooms have been in British gardens for over 140 years, have created something exclusively for us.... The Woodlands Rose. 🌹

Just like the animals we care for, this beautiful rose is resilient, beautiful, and deserves to flourish.
When you purchase an exclusive Woodlands Rose you are directly funding;
🚑Emergency veterinary care, just like Olaf received earlier this year and saved his life.
🐱Specialist rehabilitation, exactly what we are currently doing for Winnie's kittens, who are really struggling to thrive, so we have taken the hard decision to take them off mum so we can properly care for them with multiple feeds per day, anitbiotics and milk top ups.
💚Safe shelter for animals waiting for the right home.

Due to their exclusivity the Woodland Rose in only available in limited numbers for pre-order only & need to be collected directly from us here at the sanctuary.

Each Rose is £20 and 100% of the profits come back here to help us continue the life changing work you know and love us for.

Please help us to Plant Hope and Grow Compassion 🫶

Thank you so much to Arden Lea Nurseries for creating this exclusive Rose to support us with our Fundraising efforts. The support of local businesses is a huge morale boost for us and of course, all the proceeds raised make instant differences to animals lives.

Simply follow this link to purchase> https://www.tickettailor.com/events/woodlandsanimalsanctuary/2180947

If you aren't that local to us, you can also purchase a rose at any of our shops

Betsy & Penny need YOU!

This mum and daughter pair have been with us for over 270 days, having come through our doors because their loving owner very sadly died. As a strongly bonded pair, they were able to give each other comfort through this deeply upsetting time, & they are now ready to give give their hearts to another family.

Both friendly, but timid, we are sure in the right home; one offering unconditional acceptance, love and a consistent safe space, they will flourish. As you can see in the video, Penny is quite happy with the head scratches, from one of her trused Cat Cuddlers. Betsy, her mum, is a little less sure, however, you can see that she craves the contact and connection & can lose her nerve at times. However, with Cath's patience and understanding, she is able to have her moments of doubt, is given the space to acknowledge this & then wishes to return for more. This is really beautiful to see and is the type of relationship we really want to find for this special pair.

Penny has struggled in the past with an upset tummy. Our team along with our vet have worked tirelessly to find a diet that agrees with her and she has been fine for quite some time now. Penny will however, need to be kept on the food she in currenly having. And with this, we will also offer the support that should this digestive upset return, Penny can come back here, to see our vet & we will cover the cost of any treatment related to this condition.

And that's where you come in. Are you the special person this mum and daughter need to fully embrace the next chapter of their lives?

And if not, that's ok, please could we ask that you share this post far and wide, talk to your friends and colleagues and lets show this unassuming pair that life can still come up trumps even when your special person leaves you with no warning.

Can we use the power of love to find the special home these two so deserve?
