The offical page for the 45th Ormskirk Burscough Methodist. Here at the 45th we are ideally located to allow us to engage in a huge variety of activities.

We are your local Scout group and we operate in the Church Hall at Burscough Methodist Church (Orrell Lane, Burscough, Ormskirk L40 0SG). Just a few of the activities that our Beaver Scouts have undertaken in the last year are climbing, archery, tracking, wide games, arts and craft, first aid, and knots. Mean while our slightly older Cub Scouts have been on camps, had visits from the police and fire brigade to teach them about safety and their role in the community, they have learnt basic map and compass skills, hikes and lots of fun and games. Lastly our oldest section, the Scouts, have been practising first aid, going on hikes, canoeing, kayaking, raft building, shooting, archery, climbing, camping, survival skills, learning how to use an axe and a saw, going on treasure hunts, playing wide games, practising fire lighting and learning how to use a map and compass properly. This is just a taste of what our different sections have been up to, for the whole banquet, get in touch and find out how to become involved whether you want to become a Beaver Scout, Cub Scout or Scout or maybe you are a parent or adult who ants a new and fulfilling challenge for their lives.

Well.. the easy biscuit making kits that should have taken about 45 mins total to prep & bake.. took the full night! 🙈 We created something new.. we made a mess.. and we mostly ended up just eating left over icing! 🤣 But some great team work, problem solving & mostly following instructions (though after adding water.. that group was mostly doomed.. every step after that was just a sticky mess!) 🤣🙈 Really good, messy fun. Well done Cubs! 🤩

Our Young Leaders did brilliantly tonight, offering encouragement, helping with cleanup & making it a really enjoyable evening for our Cubs. They are only just starting on their Young Leader training & have already shown such fabulous skills in helping lead our pack - I'm so proud of them and excited for their future journey as leaders!

Just been sent more photos over by Antonia from our Beaver Halloween party last night.
We invested four of our Beavers into our Colony before we began the exciting food activities for Halloween.

What a fabulous weekend we have had with our Cubs! Huge thanks to Burscough Methodist Church for allowing us to stay again - it's such a great space: This weekend it was a night club, cinema, restaurant, sports hall, hotel & art studio! 🤣 Thank you so much to all the volunteers who help run these amazing experiences for the Cubs. And finally, well done Cubs - you were an absolute credit to the 45th group! 🤩

We attended the harvest service this morning at Burscough Methodist Church.
Thank you for all the food donations which will be given to the local food bank .
The children learned about how food was grown, watched a video showing local farmers working in the fields and supplying local supermarkets with their produce.
They planted bulbs to take home.
Thanks to Rev Michael for a a great service !

A fabulous wet walk this evening! All the Cubs did a great job at keeping the pace & we had fun on the park. And what better way to reward a soggy walk than a delicious chippy supper back at the hall! Well done Cubs!

Thank you so so much to staff, firefighters and everyone from Ormskirk Fire and Rescue Service who attended tonight to show and tell our Beavers about fire safety. 👍
It’s been a brilliant night and everyone has been so amazing and helpful. 😀
It’s gone a long way to work towards completing the Safety Badge. 👍
Thank you also to those parents and relations that came along to help. 😀👍

Another lovely Cubs walk this morning 🤩 We were using a microscope camera to have a look at nature up close!

We did our stick race, talked about countryside code & played a game of camouflage! See if you can spot the Cubs in the woodland picture - they were good at this game! 😆

Well.. what a night! Huge thanks to Dave for teaching us knots & all the adults volunteers tonight! All the Cubs had a go at tying knots & building a shelter! Most of them actually made a teepee! 🤩🤩

We had some interesting weather tonight that really tested how good our shelters were.. rain, snow & gale force winds! 🤣🤣 (Ps. Thanks Dave for bringing the leaf blower! 😆)

We played games & had a snowball fight (we will get getting revenge on those who targeted leaders! 🤪)

Well done everyone & thanks again to all our volunteers tonight! ❤️
