At the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we pause to honour the courage and sacrifice of all who have served. Armistice Day marks the moment the guns fell silent in 1918, and today we stand together to remember the fallen, support the living, and renew our commitment to those who serve in our name.

Today, we honour the brave souls who fought and fell during one of the most harrowing and defining battles in British military history — The Battle of the Somme, which began on 1st July 1916.

On that fateful morning, over 100,000 British soldiers went “over the top” into No Man’s Land. By the end of the first day alone, the British Army had suffered an unimaginable 57,470 casualties, with 19,240 killed — still the bloodiest day in British military history.

The battle would rage on for over four months, resulting in more than one million casualties across all sides. Yet, from such devastation arose some of the most powerful stories of courage, camaraderie, and sacrifice that continue to shape our national identity today.

At The Regiment Support Service, we remember not just the scale of the tragedy, but the strength of those who served. These men were miners, clerks, farmers, brothers, fathers, and sons — ordinary people who stood for something extraordinary.

🕯️ Let Us Never Forget

As we wear our British flag lapel badges today, we do so not only in pride but in remembrance — to honour the memory of the fallen, and to ensure that their sacrifice was not in vain. All profits from our badge sales are donated to charities that support today’s veterans — those who, like the men of the Somme, have borne the weight of war on behalf of us all.

Let us stand united, as they once did.
