It is with deepest sadness that we share the news that last week, we lost one of the most incredible people we have ever had the privilege of knowing.
For 13 years, Dawn dedicated herself to our branch, but calling it a “job” never felt right when it came to Dawn. Animal welfare was her life. It was in her heart, in her soul and in everything she did.
Dawn cared deeply. She cared about every animal that came through our doors, every frightened face, every neglected animal and every one that needed somebody to stand up for them. And Dawn was always that person.
She gave so much of herself to the animals. She fought for them, worried about them, celebrated their happy endings and carried the ones who didn’t have happy stories with her. She never stopped caring.
Over 13 years, there will be countless animals whose lives are better because Dawn was there. There are families who will never know just how much she did to help their beloved pets find their way to them. There are animals who will never know the name of the person who fought so hard for them. But we do.
And we will remember.
For those of us who had the privilege of knowing Dawn, her absence will be felt every single day. We will miss her voice, her laughter, her determination, her kindness and, most of all, the enormous heart she had for animals.
Dawn leaves behind something very special — a legacy of love, compassion and dedication that will continue through every animal we help.
We will carry her with us in our work. We will think of her when the difficult cases come through our doors. We will remember what she taught us, and we will try to give every animal the same chance she always believed they deserved.
Dawn, thank you for giving 13 years of your life to our branch and for giving so much of your heart to the animals.
You made a difference.
You changed lives.
You mattered.
And you will never, ever be forgotten.
And as we remember Dawn and everything she meant to us, our thoughts are also with her family, who are having to face a loss that words can never truly describe. We are holding them in our hearts and sending them all our love at this incredibly difficult time.
Run free, our beautiful friend. 🌈🐾❤️
