2026 so far, by the numbers… 🚁💛

Our crews have completed more than 2,500 missions this year:

1,389 by aircraft
1,111 by Critical Care Car
518 hours flown
38,700 miles driven
365 missions in May, our busiest month so far

The most common incidents we have attended were medical emergencies (44%), road traffic collisions (20%) and falls (9%).

Every mission costs around £2,500, and we receive no government funding. That means every donation, fundraising event, lottery entry, charity shop purchase and act of support helps keep our crews ready to respond.

Meet our newest member of the Your Local Air Ambulance WNDLR team! 🚁🌾

Two of our TCS London Marathon runners James and Eleanor have been getting creative with their fundraising by entering their local Duffield Scarecrow Festival with this brilliant YLAA-themed scarecrow.

It might not quite pass the HEMS medical, but it is certainly helping raise awareness and some vital funds for our charity! 💛

Now it needs a name, so tell us in the comments: what should this scarecrow be called?

So far in 2026, our crews have completed more than 2,500 missions, an average of around 10.5 missions every day! 🚁

Leicestershire has been our most visited county, with 598 call-outs (24%), followed by Derbyshire with 430 call-outs (17%).

Although we are based across Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, our crews go wherever they are needed. This year, 33% of missions have taken us beyond those counties, including to Lincolnshire, Worcestershire and Staffordshire.

Our Critical Care Cars are an essential part of our lifesaving service 🚑💛

So far this year, they have attended more than 1,100 missions and covered over 38,000 miles — helping our crews reach patients quickly, day and night.

Just like our helicopters, each car carries a critical care paramedic and doctor, along with specialist equipment that brings emergency hospital-level care directly to the patient. They are used when an incident is quicker to reach by road, when poor weather prevents flying and throughout the night.

286 missions. One month 💛

Throughout August, our crews were called to 286 missions across our communities – an average of more than 9 missions every single day.

🚁 191 missions by helicopter
🚑 95 missions by Critical Care Car
🚗 3,299 miles covered by our Critical Care Cars

From medical emergencies and road traffic collisions to falls and other serious incidents, our crews continued to be there when people needed specialist critical care most.

We receive no regular government funding for our daily missions, and each mission costs around £2,500. Your support helps keep our crews flying and our Critical Care Cars on the road.

Please donate today and help us continue to be there for the next patient who needs us 💛

Every day, our crews attend around 10 lifesaving missions 🚁💛

That could mean responding to a serious medical emergency, a road traffic collision, a fall or another life-threatening incident, often when every second matters.

Each mission costs around £2,500, and we receive no government or National Lottery funding for our daily missions. That means it is the support of people like you that helps keep us ready to respond.

If you support our crews, please leave a 💛 in the comments and share this post to help more people understand the difference local support makes.
