Our food mission is designed to make sure that the people in our community have access to the essential food items they need to thrive. ic is a story of a family, an individual, or a child facing uncertainty about their next meal. This alarming trend underscores the importance of our work and the need for continued support. Together, we can make a tangible difference and ensure that everyone has access to nutritious food. Our main hub is located inside Simply Local, Clayton Road in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Thanks to our amazing volunteers, we effectively redistribute surplus food to those who need it most.

The front of the building now proudly reflects what our community already does so well: sharing food, supporting neighbours, and treating everyone with dignity. This isn’t a supermarket built on transactions — it’s built on connection.

On Friday 9th October, we open the doors to the town’s first Social Supermarket, created with the community, for the community. A place where we fight food poverty together, cut food waste together, and build something better together.

Everyone welcome. Everyone valued.
And when people walk past, they’ll see themselves reflected in that window — because this only works when the whole community is part of it.

A huge thank you to Aspire Housing for making this possible. Their support, partnership, and belief in what we’re building has given us a home where this vision can truly come alive. We couldn’t have taken this step without them.

From “before” to “phwoar” — turns out a lick of paint really can work wonders… especially when you roll up your sleeves and do it yourself!

The front of our new HQ is transforming beautifully, and with our amazing partners supporting the journey, things are moving fast. A brand‑new window display is being installed soon, and behind the glass, a state‑of‑the‑art shop is taking shape — ready to be revealed at our launch event on Friday 9th October 2026.

Fresh paint, fresh space, fresh chapter. We can’t wait to show you what’s coming.

Our new Social Supermarket is really starting to take shape — and a lot has changed since our last update. Every shelf, space, and detail is coming together beautifully, and we’re right on track for our big launch at the end of September.

The weekend is almost here… and at Community Cupboard we’re celebrating in the only way we know how — by watching the paint dry… Yes, we’ve officially hit peak Friday entertainment. You could say things are really brushing up nicely.

This may look like an empty room right now, but very soon it will become Newcastle-under-Lyme’s first Social Supermarket and the official Community Cupboard HQ — a space dedicated to dignity, choice, and real community support.

We are incredibly grateful to Aspire Housing for their dedication, belief, and partnership in helping us turn this vision into reality. Their support means we can take a huge step forward in providing affordable essentials, reducing food waste, and strengthening resilience for families across our town.

Big things are coming for Newcastle-under-Lyme — and we can’t wait to open the doors. We will be sharing plenty of updates on our page as we start to renovate the shop, so be sure to follow us and share out our posts!

I’m really pleased to announce that Community Cupboard CIC is now a member of SCVYS. This is a big step forward for us as we continue helping families through emergency food parcels and work towards opening Newcastle-under-Lyme’s first Social Supermarket.
