MK Food Bank

MK Food Bank We provide food and support with care and respect, restoring hope and helping people regain stability. WHY THE COMMUNITY NEED US. OUR IMPACT IN THE COMMUNITY.

If you need help please call our Helpline on 0300 303 4933. The Food Bank provides emergency food parcels to families and individuals in Milton Keynes, who hit a short term crisis. Operating through local care agencies e.g CAB, Social Services etc we can ensure people are receiving help with their underlying issues. People are referred to us for a variety of reasons, perhaps a family break-up wher

e one person has had to leave without warning, loss of a job or benefit problems. It could be that someone has come out of hospital or prison and needs some immediate practical support. Sometimes it is debt related, where a change in circumstances leaves a family struggling to keep a roof over their heads. In all cases, The Food Bank is able to provide short term support. The immediate, practical support provided by The Food Bank provides breathing space for the recipient and the referral agency, creating time for them to work together to resolve the underlying problems e.g. realigning debt, resolving benefit issues. One young mum "Sarah" was referred and supported for a 6-week period to enable her to pay the bailiffs @£44 a week. This support from The Food Bank kept a roof over her head and her family together. Together, we really can make a difference!

What a lovely morning — and we’re not just talking about the football!🌞
Today we welcomed our incredible Breakfast Supporters Group to share our latest news and introduce the exciting campaigns and events we have with the Mayor of MK Paul Trendall… and wow, did they deliver!
We’re thrilled to announce our year long campaign: MK Mayor Challenge! In collaboration with MKFM, thank you Jo Ronan L.L.B. and Carly Hughes.
https://lnkd.in/eFgSuZmG
💚 But behind the fun is a very real call for help. Our shelves are running low, and we know that when Milton Keynes comes together, amazing things happen.
So… let’s do this!
We are challenging the Mayor and our generous community to help drive more food donations for his mayoral year – our goal is to reach 103,000 food items, breaking our Guinness world record!
At every event the Mayor attends he will collect food donations for MK Food Bank, and in turn help raise awareness for our cause. And MKFM will be on board highlighting the food total every month, and at their Meet of MK too!
A huge thank you Frankie Purcell for chairing the meeting today - You are a legend!
Let’s see if MK can step up once again and take on the MK Mayor Challenge, we have got some exciting events coming up, more details coming soon!
