Back on Track Manchester

Back on Track Manchester Back on Track provides education and support to adults facing disadvantage. Visit us at www.backontrackmanchester.org.uk or follow us .

Back on Track is a Manchester charity that enables disadvantaged adults to make lasting, positive changes in their lives. Formed in 1977, today we run a learning centre in central Manchester. We work with adults who are going through a process of recovery or rehabilitation, having been through problems with alcohol or drugs, homelessness and mental health. Our projects enable people to build the skills they need to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives.

It was ten years ago today that work on the incredible mural on the wall of our centre in Ancoats started.

The work, by artist case_maclaim, was inspired by our work supporting people with mental health problems. It shows someone stopping in a place of safety, pausing to gather and reflect on life, before taking a step into the future. It was based on a sketch of one of our members from the time, who posed for it holding a broom handle.

Here at Back on Track we love creative arts and we love getting support from the community! So we were delighted when the lovely people at Red Line Theatre got in touch to say they were raising money for us through a new production at Salford Arts Theatre on Friday 15 May. Lived Experiences is seven original short plays on the broad theme of mental health, and should be an entertaining and thought provoking night. Tickets are available now: https://www.ticketsource.com/booking/select/krebxwxeaeje

Liz from Back on Track was recently on Salford City Radio along with the producers and authors of Lived Experience - you can listen to that here: https://player.autopod.xyz/1287040

Liz is on from about 45 minutes, but listen to the whole thing if you can, it's all good!

A group of our members recently got together to create Voices for Change, a guide based on their own experiences and the challenges they face.

The aim is to help employers to understand multiple disadvantage and how they can make their workplaces more inclusive. It's designed to be practical, honest and easy to use. We want employers to see that inclusive employment isn’t complicated, and it doesn’t require huge changes – just small, thoughtful actions that benefit everyone.

The guide is packed with insights, stats and lovely creative work so do have a flick through when you get a moment 😀

Voices for Change is a guide created by members of Back on Track to help employers to understand how they can make their workplaces more inclusive.
