“There’s no bad day that can’t be made better by stepping outside with a friend.” 💜

Last year, our colleague Luke walked 100km in one day as part of Henshaws Hundreds.

As a long-standing member of the Henshaws team, Luke sees every day the resilience and determination of the people we support. Taking on this challenge was his way of giving something back.

Henshaws Hundreds is underway, and there’s still time to get involved.

Your challenge doesn’t have to be 100km. It can be something simple, something creative, or something shared with friends.

Makaton of the Month ✋

This time, four of our Artmakers and music workshop leader Michael are sharing the Makaton sign for “respect.” 🧡

Respect is one of the values that matters most to us at Henshaws, in how we communicate, support one another and work together every day.

Makaton uses signs, symbols and speech to support people to communicate, helping to build confidence, understanding and independence.

Save this to practise and follow along as we keep learning together.

Volunteers' Week is a chance to celebrate the incredible people who make such a difference across Henshaws. 🩷

Whether they support our social groups, lend a hand at events, volunteer regularly or help out just once, every contribution matters.

Our volunteers help to communicate the difference we make and have a lasting impact on the people we support. We simply couldn't do what we do without them.

A huge thank you to our Patron and Trustee Dave, and his stepson Louie, for taking on the this June! 💜

Every day throughout the month, they'll be completing 100 reps of a different gym exercise to raise funds and awareness for people living with sight loss and other disabilities.

As someone living with sight loss himself, Dave is taking on this challenge to show that with resilience, determination and the right support, challenges can be faced head on. We're incredibly grateful for the commitment and enthusiasm that both Dave and Louie are bringing to this.

Day 1 is already complete. Good luck for the rest of June! We'll be cheering you on every step of the way. 💪💜

Students, service users and staff from our Specialist College came together to celebrate confidence and talent through an amazing range of performances.

A huge well done to everybody who took part. It takes real courage to perform! And a very special congratulations to our Henshaws All Star winner, Codey, for his brilliant performance of Oasis’ Wonderwall! 👏🎶

Celebrating Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday in style 🌿

Earlier this month, Artmakers and staff from our Arts and Crafts Centre came together dressed as creatures to honour one of the nation’s most loved wildlife broadcasters and conservationists 🦋🦜

The day was dedicated to celebrating the natural world, with costumes depicting butterflies, birds, frogs, penguins and even a very cosy caterpillar✨

The celebration was a wonderful way to recognise Sir David’s lifelong passion for wildlife and the environment, while bringing everyone together for some fun.

Happy 100th birthday, Sir David Attenborough 💚
