What an afternoon at the Elevate Salford Festive Lunch & Awards! 🤩

We had the absolute privilege of celebrating alongside the partners today and most importantly, celebrating the incredible young people who make this work worth doing.

Four of our brilliant RISE UP participants were shortlisted for awards recognising their growth, resilience and commitment.

And two of our own team members Hira and Nicolette were nominated for staff awards, a testament to the passion and energy they bring into this movement every day. 🔥

These moments matter.
Not because of trophies or titles, but because they show what’s possible when a whole system comes together around young people instead of expecting them to navigate barriers alone.

A message from our CEO, Roman Dibden:

One employer’s openness changed everything for Thomas. 💙 
After months of applying for jobs and hearing “unsuccessful” with no feedback, Thomas reached out to RISE UP and everything shifted. 
- He put in the work. 
- The employer stayed flexible. 
- And together, they created an opportunity that actually allowed him to show his strengths.
 A second-chance interview. A strengths-based approach. A young person finally seen for who he is, not just how he performs in a single interview. 
Today, Thomas has a job he’s proud of and confidence that’s grown massively.  And honestly? We couldn’t be prouder.

Our partnership with HIPPO Digital is built on one simple truth: when young people are given access, everything starts to shift. 
Through our Pathways2Digital and Building Aspirations programmes, we’ve been working side by side to help young people gain the confidence, skills + connections they need to take their first steps into digital careers. 
From workshops on Agile, CV building + interview prep to mentoring + networking sessions: Hippo’s team have helped young people see what’s possible and believe they belong in the digital industry. 🙌 
We’ve watched nerves turn into curiosity, and curiosity turn into confidence. That transformation is what this partnership is all about. ❤️ 
Together, we’re building a digital industry and a future workforce that truly reflects the communities it serves.

You can’t put a price on the look on someone’s face when a barrier disappears. 🥺

It’s been another special day at RISE UP!

First stop: Go Outdoors with Ibrahim to pick up his new bike 🚲 Since completing our Building Aspirations programme, he’s started his degree and now, with his new bike (and the laptop we sorted earlier), he’s ready to cycle to uni and chase those goals 💯

Then Ethan dropped by the office to collect his scholarship items 🙌 He’s recently started a new job as a chef and we couldn’t be prouder! 👏

Here’s what our CEO, Roman, had to say: “These scholarships are about removing the practical barriers that hold young people back. A bike, a laptop, the right gear - small things that make a massive difference. Seeing their smiles makes it all worth it.”

Go trackside with us. 🏁

In , where youth unemployment is twice the national average, we turned a karting track into a space for confidence, community, and change.

Our programme with Team Works Karting brought together 18 young people who’d been told “no” more times than they should have and showed them what’s possible when belief meets opportunity.

This is what inclusion looks like - when business and community come together to build bold pathways into work. 🎬

We showed up to do what we do best:

⚡ Calm the nerves
⚡ Share top tips before interviews
⚡ Remind every young person in the room that YOU are your best asset
It’s not just about CVs or applications. It’s about walking in with confidence, knowing you belong, and showing employers the energy and perspective only you can bring.

Meet Zahra ✨

After finishing her A levels, Zahra wasn’t sure what came next. University didn’t feel right, and she felt stuck without clear options. 
With a little support from RISE UP, she: 💼 Tried a short work experience placement 📝 Got CV and interview support 🤝 Connected with  🎉 Landed her first full-time role as a Customer Service Agent!

She’s now thriving in a supportive workplace, proving that there are so many fulfilling career paths outside of uni. 💙

Her advice to other young people? 👉 “Go for it, their sole purpose is to help and support you.”

Big day at RISE UP HQ!
Today we hosted a Job Open Day - connecting young people with live vacancies, CV + application support, and the confidence boost they need to take that next step 🚀
The best part? Seeing confidence scores shoot up from the start to the end of the session 🙌
And one young person summed it up perfectly:
🗣️ “We are young, we are energetic. We want to thrive - we just need the chance to show it.”
