Some of our local groups recently welcomed young people from Palestine 💚

Eight young people from the West Bank and Jerusalem recently visited East Anglia as part of the Beyond the Checkpoints visit organised by CADFA.

Local Woodcraft Folk groups from Lowestoft, Ipswich and Cambridge signed up to be part of the CADFA programme of events.

Cambridge Woodcraft Folk hosted a private talk where the young members and accompanying adults spoke about their lives in the West Bank and Jerusalem. They then spent a day with our Lowestoft Woodcraft Folk where the young visitors took part in Morris dancing and Dabke Dancing 🎶

Ipswich Woodcraft Folk arranged a game of football ⚽with the Palestinian youth before hosting an event where the public could learn more about life in the West Bank and Jerusalem as well as bring gifts and food for the children.

Woodcraft Folk young members were horrified to hear of the young visitor's war stories from back home but so impressed with their resilience and fortitude. The comment that touched Woodcraft Folk's young members the most was that the Palestine visitors said their favourite and enjoyable memory about their visit was feeling so safe 🥹.

Woodcraft Folk remains dedicated to building a more peaceful world where all enjoy freedom from war and want. Through our work with young people we explore the causes of conflict and promote positive alternatives to violence 🕊

This year Woodcraft Folk are planning to take part in the Big Give Christmas Campaign again but we can't do it without your help!

We are asking our members and supporters if they would kindly pledge to this year's campaign to allow us to progress to the next stage.

By making a pledge, you will allow us to unlock crucial funding that will enable us to strengthen our volunteer network and grow our local groups...plus much more 💚!

Without pledgers, we'll loose out on the chance to access match funding, where each donation is doubled during the campaign week meaning every donation has twice the impact 🎉

We need to raise £5,000 of pledges to be eligible for the match funding during the campaign week. We are delighted to have had some pledges in already, but are still desperately in need of new pledgers 😬

To be a pledger, you must be able to:

🔸 Pledge £100 or more - there is no maximum amount
🔸Complete this form by 28th August at 5pm > https://shorturl.at/BFMh7

Pledgers can be individuals, organisations and businesses!

📲You can make your pledge here today >https://shorturl.at/BFMh7

Thanks to those who supported our Big Give campaign next year we were able to send over 90 young people to take part in and travel to Venturer Camp this summer who otherwise would have struggled to attend as well as support with opening many new local groups 😄🙌!

Woodcraft Folk’s national Venturer Camp returned for 2026, with over 400 volunteers and young attendees (aged between 13-15 years) making their way to our Biblins campsite in the Wye valley for an immersive week of outdoor adventures and youth empowerment from 1-8 August ⛺☀.

Throughout the week, attendees took part in cooperative living, cooking, camping, educational workshops and shared learning experiences. This year’s storytelling-themed camp placed a strong emphasis on equipping the young attendees with the skills, tools and confidence needed to help shape their communities and contribute to a better world 🌎💚.

At the heart of this year’s programme was Planet Utopia; a hands-on, creative, youth-led space which encouraged participants to think boldly about the future whilst building problem solving skills to fuel meaningful, collective action 📣. Real-life issues were explored such as the ethics of AI that asked participants to question injustices faced globally. These workshops reflected Woodcraft Folk’s core values in cooperation and the importance of education for driving social change 🙌

The camp arrives at a particularly significant moment, when youth empowerment is needed more than ever. Young people are navigating challenging pressures from mental health crises and digital threats to turbulent employment prospects, and an uncertain future of war and climate change 💔.

We're inviting young people who want to have their voices heard and a platform to shape their world to join our movement! 📲You can join as a young member or volunteer and find your nearest group here > https://woodcraft.org.uk/find-a-group.

Thanks to all those who came together to make Venturer Camp an incredible camp! 💻Read more about V Camp here > https://shorturl.at/Z8pMe

A huge thanks to all those who attended our recent working Weekend at our Scarletts Campsite located near East Sussex 🛠️💚

An enormous amount was achieved in spite of the sweltering temperatures!

We erected a marquee, set up compost toilets, moved the camping area, another swathe of hedge completed as well as the site layout plans put into place plus much more🙌.

Lovely food and great company was enjoyed by all around the fire on Saturday night 🔥 With such hot temperatures, some choose to sleep under the stars in hammocks with a dawn view over the valley as their reward ✨!

A huge thanks to National Lottery Community Fund, their support paid for the weekend volunteer's food.

📅Our next event at Scarletts is a multi-district camp from 25-27 Sept. Activities on offer include Nature Recovery projects, bat walks, crafts, bushcraft crafts and more! Limited places available. ⏰Book by 4th Sept.

Members from Birmingham Woodcraft Folk recently attended the Birmingham Stand Up to Racism march 🙌.

Hundreds attended including representatives from other organisations as well as members of the public.

Everyone come together in unity to make a stand against fascism ❌. The event included speakers, music, stalls and activities 📣.

We were proud to see our members making a stand including Diane Fairfax whose Father was a holocaust survivor coming to the UK as part of the ‘Kindertransport’ in December 1938, as fascism spread. She has been active in Woodcraft Folk throughout her life and still works in schools to raise awareness of the holocaust and Fascism and notes the importance of Woodcraft Folk's work and its focus on education for social change.

Woodcraft Folk have been involved in similar demonstrations in London and across the UK for over 100 years giving young people a voice and calling for a peaceful, fairer world 🕊. We encourage our members to champion and celebrate cooperation, inclusion, and social justice—values that sit at the heart of Woodcraft Folk’s mission.

📲Share the same values? Why not join our movement as a young member or volunteer! Head here to find your nearest youth group > www.woodcraft.org.uk/find-a-group

Cudham’s recentPioneer Bushcraft Camp was a major success ⛺🌳!

Every year, the Woodcraft Folk Bushcraft Team puts on a Bushcraft Camp at Cudham to introduce Pioneers to some useful bushcraft skills in a fun environment.

From June 26th to June 28th, Cudham was overflowing with Pioneers from across London, coming together to learn key bushcraft skills, and play lots of games in between. Although it was hot (and there was some rain and thunder in the evenings!), the Pioneers all had a great time embracing nature and getting stuck into all the engaging adventurous activities.

The groups learned firelighting, putting their newfound skills to use quickly, cooking up some lovely pancakes and making hot chocolate to share 🔥🍫They also got up to some whittling, learning how to make all manner of things from foxes to pencils ✏. Under the shade of the parachute, the Pioneers learned how to work with knives and greenwood.

A highlight for many was heading into the woods to learn how to build a trusty shelter. With nothing more than tarps and ropes, the pioneers set up something that could protect them from the elements - wind, cold and definitely rain 🌧.

📅The next bushcraft camp will be at Wimbledon District Woodcraft Folk Park Farm from 2-4 Oct for all ages from Elfins to DFs. Spaces are limited at 40 - find out more and book by 24 July here > https://shorturl.at/Gswrl
