🇬🇧 INDEPENDENCE IS NOT JUST A DATE.
On 24 August 1991, Ukraine declared its independence. But the struggle of Ukrainians for the right to be free had been going on for generations, long before that day.
Since 2014, Ukrainians have defended that freedom every single day.
Since 24 February 2022, this has become a full-scale war — one that has come at an unimaginable cost.
We are paying the highest price for what matters most — the freedom to be Ukraine.
With lives. Homes. Cities. Futures.

Документальна фотовиставка про Україну сьогодні — життя людей, роботу волонтерів та реальність війни очима фотографки Олени Мельникової.

Виставка стала можливою завдяки співпраці KRYLA Culture CIC, Auto Angel Lviv, Sunflower Manchester та Manchester Central Library.

🎒 Важлива місія виставки — збір коштів на trauma backpacks для евакуаційних команд, які щодня рятують життя на прифронтових територіях.

🇬🇧 UKRAINE TODAY: Stories Through the Lens
A documentary photography exhibition sharing the reality of Ukraine today — the lives of people, the work of volunteers and the reality of war.

Created through the collaboration of KRYLA Culture CIC, Auto Angel Lviv, Sunflower Manchester and Manchester Central Library.

🎒 The exhibition is also raising funds for trauma backpacks for evacuation teams working on the frontline and saving lives.

Sunflower Manchester had the honour of attending the Ukraine Policy Network Reception at the UK Parliament.

The event brought together parliamentarians, academics, charities, and community organisations from across the UK to discuss the future of displaced Ukrainians and the policies that will shape their lives in the years ahead.

It was inspiring to hear the early findings from one of the largest surveys of displaced Ukrainians in the UK — highlighting both the significant contributions our community is making and the challenges that still need to be addressed.
The discussions focused on long-term security, access to employment and education, wellbeing, and creating sustainable pathways for the future.

As an organisation working directly with Ukrainian families in Greater Manchester, we are proud to contribute to these important conversations and ensure that the voices and experiences of our community are represented.

We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with fellow organisations, researchers, policymakers, and community leaders who share a commitment to supporting displaced Ukrainians and building lasting solutions for the future.
