Women's Voices evolved from the Manchester Women’s Care Group which supported women with mental health issues who lacked confidence and were isolated from society. After 2 years, having developed their own confidence, skills and abilities, these women were determined to work together and volunteer to help other women in similar situations, and so formed Women's Voices in August 2013. Women's Voice
s seeks to support victims of many forms of abuse, isolation, intimidation and lack of access to support, training and advice so that they can achieve independence and self-reliance. It also looks to encourage social enterprise to generate income which will be reinvested back into the group. We have attracted many volunteers, attendees and support agencies including Women Care Group, Friendship Healthcare Women's Association, The Roby, South Manchester Law Centre, Manchester City Council, Ward Councillors and Co-ordinators. We have already supported women to establish their own social enterprise groups, participate as volunteers at events and develop their own sewing group to both teach women these skills and then sell the items that they have made.
