MTO | Zendeh Delan® Ensemble

Zendeh delan literally translates to “awakened hearts.” The ensemble is made up of students of Sufism who have come together to learn and share their experiences through music and to collectively create contemporary Sufi music, under the guidance of Professor Nader Angha, the Sufi Master of MTO Shahmaghsoudi® School of Islamic Sufism®.

Looking back on a beautiful moment from our journey. ✨

At the end of 2024, musicians from Zendeh Delan travelled to Karachi for the Karachi Wellness Festival, where we shared a selection of our music and took part in a Tamarkoz session centred on presence, inner peace, and connection.

It was a privilege to experience such heartfelt warmth, to meet so many wonderful people, and to discover how music can create a shared language across cultures.

We are grateful to everyone who welcomed us so generously, and to and for making this memorable gathering possible.

As we continue our journey, we love looking back on these moments that remind us why we do what we do. 🤍

On July 4th, MTO Zendeh Delan Vancouver was honoured to be invited to share Sufi music and poetry as part of Celebrating Canada Day: Strength Through Diversity, hosted by the Ismaili Centre Vancouver. The event brought together people from many cultures and backgrounds in a celebration of the diversity, unity, and shared humanity that make Canada home.
Through music, poetry, and remembrance, we were happy to contribute to an afternoon of reflection and connection. Our sincere thanks to the organizers, volunteers, fellow performers, and everyone who joined us for this meaningful celebration.

Throwback to last Decemebr when the Vacouver Zendeh Delan team spent a heartfelt afternoon with the residents of Sunrise Senior Living Center, where melodies of love, remembrance, and joy filled the room.

The sense of connection and harmony that was felt in the room has stayed with us long after the final note faded. A reminder that music is the language of the heart, heard beyond the ears. 💫

Every element of the stage for The Conference of The Birds was designed with intention.

The journey begins on a Persian rug, symbolising oneness, individual threads woven together as one. At its centre, the birds begin their search for the Simorgh.

The fountain represents purity, reminding us that the heart must be cleansed before it can truly reflect the Divine.

Two trees stand on either side of the stage, inspired by the sacred tree in Attar’s masterpiece. They symbolise both nature and the stages of life, quietly witnessing the transformation of every traveller through the seven valleys.

Every prop, every light, every transition was carefully considered so the stage would not simply accompany the story, but become part of it.
