All We Can We have a tradition of challenging injustice, and striving for a world where every community has the power, dignity, and resources to lead their own futures.

All We Can has served some of the most marginalised communities on earth for the last eight decades – since a group of Methodists answered the call of refugees in Europe, in the 1930s. Our story is about the inherent value and potential in all people. Whether children fleeing tyranny, communities facing extreme poverty, or families hit by disaster, we answer through partnering with local innovator

s, projects, and churches to unleash inherent potential. We work with people in vulnerable and excluded communities, in the lowest-income countries, and have developed a reputation for doing development differently – pioneering sustainable, locally-owned solutions in response to John Wesley’s call to:

‘Do all the good you can,
by all the means you can,
in all the ways you can,
in all the places you can,
at all the times you can,
to all the people you can,
as long as ever you can.’

Giorgiana is a teacher in Sierra Leone. She works with All We Can’s local partner, Pikin-to-Pikin, to run an after-school class for students who are falling behind their peers 🇸🇱📚✏️

💭 ‘With Pikin-to-Pikin, I run a study group for students at this school. Without the class, some children just weren’t able to reach their potential. Many of them were not doing well in class. This is because, for so many of them, as soon as they go home, they don’t have time to study. But with the help of this class, if they are given an assignment to do, they will come and say, ‘Aunty! We have an assignment in class. Can you help us understand?’ and so we spend our time going over it so that they can understand and do well in their classes.’

In addition to helping the children reach their academic potential, Giorgiana also teaches them to be good role models; it’s what she enjoys most in her role 👏

💭 ‘I have taught them about the impacts of violence and drug abuse. I have also taught them about the importance of hygiene and how they must respect and appreciate each other. There are many things we have been able to cover in these sessions!’

MUSIC IN THE GARDENS 🌞🎷🪗🎺

Throughout July, the gardens of Muswell Hill Methodist Church in North London were transformed into a vibrant community space as hundreds of people gathered every Sunday for the church’s annual Music in the Gardens.

The programme celebrated an impressive variety of musical styles. Audiences enjoyed performances by the English Jazz Orchestra, the London Metropolitan Brass Band, a lively ceilidh, David’s Harp Gospel Singers, rock and pop musicians, sea shanty singers, and talented members of the Muswell Hill Methodist Church congregation. The diversity of music reflected the diversity of the local community and created an atmosphere where everyone could feel at home.

Each Sunday, Muswell Methodist Church raised money for All We Can and the North London Hospice. We are so grateful to Muswell Methodist Church for including All We Can in their celebrations and for the generous donation Music in the Gardens has accrued!

Through the Opportunity Training Centre (the OTC), Mamie Foundation are supporting people living with disabilities as they undertake vocational training in order to upskill themselves in business!

In this recent video from Mamie Foundation, you can see members of the OTC community contributing and leading discussions in their recent community mapping exercise.

As Mamie Foundation say, ‘persons with disabilities are not merely beneficiaries, but are active partners, leaders, and agents of change’. 💛💛💛

🌍 At All We Can, we work with various humanitarian organisations and their workers to put our emergency appeals into action. Without them, we couldn't use your donations to make an impact in communities that desperately need it.

🙏 We hope you'll join us today as we pray for those caught in humanitarian crisis and those who work tirelessly to aid them:

'Saviour God,
You are with us through all of life's challenges and help to still the storms.
On World Humanitarian Day, we bring before you all those affected by disaster:
the devastation of earthquakes,
the overwhelm of floods,
the desolation of droughts,
and communities torn apart by violence.
We pray for humanitarian workers who run towards danger to bring aid, shelter, and hope, and for local organisations that work to prepare communities and reduce the impact of future disasters.
Sustain them in their service, protect them in times of risk, and fill them with courage and hope to continue.
In your mercy, hear us and deliver us.
Amen.'
