On behalf of Heroes Media Group, a West African media, publishing and storytelling organisation committed to celebrating leadership, service, enterprise, development, culture and human achievement, we are honoured to formally notify you of your nomination for the African Matriarch Impact Awards (AMIA) 2026.
Over the past three months, Heroes Media Group has researched and reviewed the journeys of women whose professional work, personal experiences, advocacy and service have made meaningful contributions to society.
Your remarkable journey from Sierra Leone to the United Kingdom, together with your professional experience in youth and community work, mental health and learning disability nursing, and your longstanding advocacy for children with autism, places you among the women whose lives and work merit recognition.
A JOURNEY FROM SIERRA LEONE TO GLOBAL ADVOCACY
Your journey began in Sierra Leone before taking you to the United Kingdom in 1993, where you pursued studies in Youth and Community Work and developed a professional career in health and community service.
A deeply personal experience involving your son’s speech delay became a defining moment in your journey. Your determination to understand his needs led you to intensive speech and language interventions and ultimately to a deeper engagement with autism and the challenges faced by children and families.
Rather than allowing that experience to remain personal, you transformed it into a broader commitment to advocacy, awareness and support for children and families affected by autism.
ADVOCACY, COMMUNITY SERVICE AND AUTISM SUPPORT
Your commitment to community service has extended across hospitals, schools and community outreach programmes.
In 2018, you established Autism Gifted Hands, a private company providing outreach services for children with autism through sensory play and interventions.
Your work has focused particularly on children and families facing economic difficulties, social stigma and limited access to appropriate support. Your advocacy extends beyond the United Kingdom, with particular attention to the experiences of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities.
Your commitment to improving awareness, access to support and opportunities for children reflects a profound belief in the potential of every child.
WORLD CHANGING CENTRE GLOBAL
Through your work with World Changing Centre Global, you have continued to advance a vision centred on social impact, community empowerment and improving the lives of vulnerable people.
Your professional and voluntary contributions demonstrate how personal experience can become a catalyst for service, advocacy and lasting social change.
You have also received recognition for your contribution to health and community service, including the Research, Education and Workforce Development Award and the Securing an Improved Patient Experience Award from Greenwich Teaching Primary Care Trust.
