What would adults learn if they stopped talking about young people's digital lives... and started listening to them? 🤔

That's exactly what the ListenUp survey is exploring.

📱 Not screen time statistics.
🧠 Not assumptions.
❌ Not another debate about whether phones are "good" or "bad".

We're interested in what digital life actually feels like for young people today.

✅ The opportunities.
🌡️ The pressures.
🫂 The friendships.
😠 The frustrations.

The things adults understand well and the things they don't.

If you're aged 13–17, and have 10 mins spare, share your thoughts and help shape how decision-makers and adults think about growing up in the digital world.

This is your chance to make sure these discussions don't happen without you 👇

Paris? ✔️

VivaTech 2026? ✔️

Talking to the global tech sector about young people? Absolutely ✔️

Next week, we're heading to one of the world's biggest technology and innovation events as part of our partnership with Global Child Forum.

We'll be bringing something the tech sector often says it wants more of:

Actual young people's perspectives.

Not assumptions about young people.

Not trends about young people.

Just young people.

We'll be sharing insights from our work with children and young people across the UK and beyond, as well as exclusive resources to help you embed meaningful youth engagement in technology, digital wellbeing, innovation and product design.

If you're heading to VivaTech, come and find us.

And if you're already going, let us know 👇

The words we use in safeguarding matter.

Not because we're trying to simplify complex situations.

But because young people deserve to understand the conversations happening about them, with them, and around them.

Over the past few years, we've worked alongside the North West Safeguarding Partnership to develop a Language Charter designed to make safeguarding conversations clearer, more accessible, and more human.

The principles in this carousel might seem simple, and that's the point 💥

What started as a regional piece of work is now beginning to travel further, and it's supporting safeguarding agencies across the country to rethink how they communicate.

Because young people shouldn't need a glossary to understand the support they're receiving.

They should just need honest, transparent and, most of all, human conversations.

It might seem small, but shifting how we communicate can be the difference between feeling confused and feeling included 🫶

"Young people can tell when somebody is just trying to extract information from them."

One of our Young Consultants, Jeremy, shared this during a recent workshop with Money Ready UK, and you wouldn't believe how hard it landed. There was a lot of very fast note-taking afterwards 😂

But it's true.

Most young people have spent years being asked for feedback. And they've learnt to tell the difference between being asked because somebody is curious...and being asked because somebody needs data.

One feels like a conversation.
The other a transaction.

And guess which one leaves the young person feeling valued...

Meaningful youth engagement isn't about collecting more information.

It's about creating relationships where people feel listened to, remembered, and have an equal stake in influencing what happens next.

Young people notice the difference.

Would you rather...?

It sounds like a game. But some of the biggest participation decisions organisations make are actually trade-offs like these.

📣 Would you rather hear from thousands of young people once, or a smaller group consistently over time?
⏰ Would you rather act quickly on partial insight, or wait for perfect data?
🔨 Would you rather young people influence strategy, or shape delivery day-to-day?

There isn't always a right answer.

But the conversations behind these questions can reveal a lot about where youth voice sits in your organisation right now.

Youth participation isn't just about hearing from young people.
It's about making choices around power, influence, evidence, risk and trust.

Wake up babe, Participation People totes just dropped 👜✨

These will be heading to our Young Consultants soon...but honestly? We think they’re too good to keep to ourselves.

So here’s the deal: if this post gets enough love, we might just do a giveaway 👀

What do you say? Do you want one?

(And yes, carrying one automatically increases your ability to challenge systems and influence decisions by at least 37% 🔥)

Safeguarding participation can be incredibly meaningful work.
But it can also feel incredibly lonely.

A lot of professionals working in voice, lived experience and participation roles are carrying huge responsibility — often trying to shift systems, challenge culture and advocate for children and families.

When we were working across the North West Safeguarding Partnership, one leader told us:
“Just being in a room with people who actually understand this role has been massive. I didn’t realise how isolated I felt until I wasn’t anymore.”

And we haven’t stopped thinking about that since.

Because it revealed something really important:
Sometimes the most powerful thing isn’t a new framework or strategy. It’s realising you’re not the only person asking difficult questions, navigating complexity or trying to do this work well.

When we embrace each other and work as people, not processes, we create space to share challenges, problem-solve openly and build something many safeguarding professionals have been missing for a long time: connection, honesty and collective support.

It might sound complex or challenging, but at its core, this work is human.

And, when people no longer feel they have to figure it all out alone, something shifts:
greater confidence, stronger infrastructure and systems that begin to change. Not because of one new framework, but because people finally had the space to do the work together 💗

Not all children love reading.
And honestly? That’s one of the reasons this project matters so much.

We’re working with the National Literacy Trust to hear directly from primary school children about books, stories and reading — including what feels exciting, boring, relatable, confusing or completely disconnected from their lives.

Because adults choose a lot of books for children.
But children rarely get asked what they actually want from them.

We’re looking for parents and carers across the UK to sign children aged 5–11 up for friendly, creative sessions designed to help them share honest views and ideas.

If they take part, they'll get a £15 voucher for their time ✨

Help us make reading feel more relevant, enjoyable and accessible for more children.

We’re hiring a Youth Voice & Influence Officer ✨

This is for someone who believes participation should actually lead somewhere.

Someone who understands that young people’s time, insight and trust should never be treated as a tick-box exercise.

Someone who can build relationships, hold complexity with care and help create spaces where young people genuinely influence decisions.

This role is focused on meaningful, ethical and youth-powered work across national projects and partnerships — supporting young people to shape services, systems and change.

What’s included?

✔ 4-day working week
✔ Flexible remote-first working
✔ £27,500 salary
✔ Dedicated wellbeing support
✔ A values-led team who care deeply about doing this work properly

Applications close: Midnight, 15th June 2026.
Open to applicants with the legal right to work in the UK.

What do healthy relationships mean to you? 📣

We’re working with The Scouts to hear directly from young Scouts aged 13–17, and volunteers, about what healthy relationship education should actually look and feel like in practice.

What conversations are missing?
What support would help?
And what makes these topics easier, or harder, to talk about?

The sessions are interactive, relaxed and designed to create honest discussion, whether this is a topic you think about often or not.

What is it?

✔ 2-hour workshops in June
✔ £20 voucher for Scouts taking part
✔ Resources and support tools for volunteers
✔ Opportunity to shape future approaches across Scouts
