This summer, 20 dedicated participants from the Kabarak University Chapter of The President's Award Kenya headed to the Malindi mangroves for a 5-day Gold Residential Project focused on service, environmental action, and lasting impact!

What made this even more inspiring? Although Residential Projects are only required at the Gold level, 13 Silver and 5 Bronze participants stepped up to join the mission as well. During their time there, participants planted trees to help restore degraded coastal ecosystems, protected sea turtle nests, and carried out a beach clean-up. Together, these efforts played a vital role in strengthening biodiversity and safeguarding coastal habitats in .

"We sincerely appreciate Mariners for Africa for partnering with us, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) for its technical guidance and conservation education, and the local community for working alongside us to make this initiative a success."

We are so proud of everyone who took part and helped make a difference! 🙌✨

Every participant’s Award journey looks different. Different skills, different volunteering experiences, playing different sports, and exploring different parts of the world. But they all share one experience: making friends through the Award.

We can’t count how many friendships have been formed over the last 70 years, but last November, at the , more than 150 young people found new friends in each other.
