From rowing machines in school halls to boats, kayaks and paddleboards on the water, we’ve spent the last 20 years helping young people discover what they’re capable of 🚣‍♀️

That’s why we’re excited that our CEO, Matt, will be speaking at the Youth Sport: Tackling the Participation Gap Conference later this month, sharing some of LYR’s experiences of breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for young people through sport.

Here’s to more young people finding their place in sport 💙

All this sunshine has us daydreaming about the Oarsome Challenge 2026!

Looking back on some brilliant events with Ormond Street Hospital and Charity and Artinvest Real Estate last year, where the energy was huge, the teamwork shone through, and plenty of metres were covered along the way.

Excited for the next on this summer 👀

Active Row Southwark is off to a brilliant start.

These photos are from when students from came down to Surrey Quays to get out on the water and get stuck into the sessions.

Our Monday afternoon Open Club is now up and running with coach Kieran leading the sessions. We already have 16 young people already signed up for next week, the momentum is building fast!

Great to see more opportunities opening up for young people to build confidence, learn new skills and feel part of a team.

Be Brave. Be Curious. Be Yourself. 💙

Marcus first came to rowing in Year 8 with no experience — just a willingness to give something new a go. Since then, he has grown into a dedicated athlete, a supportive teammate and a role model within Active Row Bristol.

From winning at NJIRC Virtual to helping younger students build confidence in sessions, Marcus’s journey shows the power of opportunity, resilience and belonging through sport.

Stories like this are exactly why we do what we do at LYR 🙌
