Today our Wiltshire ACF team takes on one of the most iconic marching events in the world – the Airborne March at Oosterbeek, the largest single-day marching event of its kind, held in remembrance of the thousands of Allied troops who fought during the Battle of Arnhem in 1944.

And just look at this team! 👏🇬🇧

Our Wiltshire cadets and CFAVs have spent the last few days preparing, polishing boots, checking kit, practising drill and formations, and getting themselves mentally ready for the challenge ahead not to mention getting ready to chant and sing.

Today, all that preparation comes together.

But this march is about much more than putting one foot in front of the other.

As our team marches through the Dutch countryside and around the historic battlefields of Arnhem, they will be walking in the footsteps of the men who fought here over 80 years ago. Every step is a chance to remember their courage, sacrifice and determination – and to ensure their story continues to be told.

For our cadets, this is a unique opportunity to experience history rather than simply read about it in a classroom.

Wiltshire ACF is ready. Boots are on. Kit is checked. Spirits are high.

Now it's time to march. 🎖️🥾

Cadet Vocational College (CVC) Information and Guidance sessions (IAG)

Cadets can achieve a tangible qualification through the CVC
We have upcoming guidance sessions, so speak to your DC for further info.

Cadet Vocational College (CVC) have a number of BTEC level 2 in Teamwork and Personal Development in the Community diploma registrations that have become available so I’ve arranged for four Information and Guidance sessions (IAG) to be held for our cadets.
For a cadet to be able to register for the qualification they must have attended an IAG.

The prerequisite is that a cadet must have turned 16 as at 31 Aug 2025 to register for the diploma now. However, I’ll accept 15 years and 9 months for the IAG but they won’t be able to register for the diploma until 1 Sept 2026. This will put them ahead of the game.
Any cadet aged 15 years 9 and above can attend the IAG but only those who are currently 16 can register now for the qualification. The younger ones will be able to register from 1 Sept 2026 and won’t need to attend another IAG.

County Junior Cadet Leadership Course

Are you a 1 or 2 Star Cadet who has recently been promoted—or are you looking towards your next promotion?
The County Junior Cadet Leadership Course is designed to give you the knowledge, confidence and practical skills needed to take on the role of a Detachment JNCO.

The course will introduce you to:
• Leadership theory and what makes an effective leader
• The Cadet Leadership Code
• Practical leadership activities and challenges
• The roles and responsibilities of a Detachment JNCO
• Practical tools and techniques to help you lead, motivate and support other cadets.

Whether you have just been promoted or are preparing for your first leadership appointment, this course will give you the opportunity to develop your leadership skills, build confidence and put your learning into practice.

Senior Cadet Drill Instructor Course

Take your drill to the next level and become a qualified Cadet Drill Instructor.

Designed for ambitious senior cadets, this course will develop your drill knowledge, confidence and instructional ability while working towards 4 Star Drill.

You will develop your skills in:
• Rifle, cane and banner drill
• Words of command and effective drill instruction
• Drill traditions and customs
• Leading and instructing other cadets
• Developing the confidence and authority required of a Cadet Drill Instructor

The course will challenge you to achieve the highest standards of drill and leadership, culminating in the opportunity to achieve Best in Course.

King George VI
Congratulations to Lt Rob Yuill who completed the King George VI (KGVI) Course last week.

The KGVI course is a week-long leadership course held at Frimley Park.
It is funded from a bursary left by King George VI and the course was founded in his honour. The course aims to teach its students important middle-management skills needed for certain roles within the ACF

Congratulations to Cdt RSM Dylan Mead!

We celebrate Cdt RSM Dylan Mead for successfully completing the week-long Master Cadet Course at CTC Frimley Park.

This represents the pinnacle of the Cadet Experience. Earning and proudly wearing the esteemed Master Cadet badge is a goal that all cadets strive for, and Cdt RSM Dylan Mead certainly deserves this honour.

MASTER CADET COURSE
Established in 1989, the aim of the Master Cadet Course is to broaden and develop further the leadership, instructional and administrative responsibilities of 4-star cadets, with the intention of making better use of their abilities.
ELIGIBILITY
The course is open to all 4-star cadets who have completed Fieldcraft as a progressive subject and have qualified on the Senior Cadet Instructors' Cadre(SCIC). Students are to be at least 16 years old and at the minimum rank of Sergeant
