We are a community of walkers, runners and cyclists that combine getting fit by doing good. We do this in four ways:

1. Group Runs
2. Community missions
2. Coach visits
3. Missions

Group runs
Group runs are sessions in which a group of people run or walk to assist a community group or charity with a physical task. Group runs have a start location where everyone meets before heading off to r...

Community missions
Community missions are sessions in which a group of people support a community group or charity with a physical task. GoodGym gets asked to do a huge variety of tasks for many different organisations ...

Coach visits
Coach visits are regular runs, walks or cycles to visit an isolated older person. We ask you to commit to a weekly social visit to an older person for a minimum of six months. We call the older person...

Missions
A mission is a one-off practical task to help an older person over 50 in their home or garden. Missions aim to enable older people to remain safe and independent at home. We help out with a whole rang...

Congratulations to Future Leader Shahram for leading their first session 🎉

“I learnt [that] leading isn’t just telling someone to do something. It's communicating clearly and welcoming new people… everyone should be included.” - Shahram

The Future Leader programme enables young people to jump into session leadership and mobilise GoodGymers to causes they care about.

As an under represented group, and among the most isolated in society, it’s inspiring to see this first generation of Future Leaders out making their ambition a reality 🚀

The community leaders of tomorrow are being built today

They’re taking action, and making a difference where they live.

They’re leading runs, meeting volunteers, charities and community organisations and helping mobilise groups to support them.

Leaders like Jihane aren’t just talking about what needs to change, they’re changing it.

“Wow, Linda did a marvellous job yesterday in my front garden. It looks like someone lives here now. I get so upset when I can’t do it. Thank you Linda” - Mrs P

“Mrs P is always delightful and very happy to see me. She wanted the front grass tidied and roses dead headed and shrubs cut back. I was able to give everything a quick cut back and tidy up and Mrs P was very happy with the result. As always we finished up with a drink and a chat” - Linda, GoodGymer

GoodGym’s first session in Scotland 🎉

20 GoodGymers including many new faces and GoodGym’s new CEO Hannah, for the momentous launch of GoodGym Edinburgh!

The group, expertly led by Dave, headed to Leith Community Croft - a space for the community to come together through gardening. The group of 20 made light work of the raised beds where they weeded, cleared and then wheelbarrowed the waste into a skip with time to spare to make a start on the Market Garden as well (which we’d love to carry on in another session!).

Shoutout to everyone that made it down to the first of many sessions in Edinburgh, and to Places For People for their support that helps make this possible.

Big turn out, big hearts, big blankets 🧶

Wednesday's Hounslow task had a mega turnout - the group excited for Lucy to lead the run and the looong to-do list for Strand on The Green School.

What makes this task special is the handful of the group that had been quietly meeting up to learn how to knit, finalised by Holly who stitched all those little pieces together into two beautiful handmade baby blankets for mums-to-be, Emily and Eloise - this session being their last until the new arrival.

Sessions like these help us realise what GoodGym is all about. Community ♥️

“I didn't expect you in this weather. That's heroic!”

Rain or shine, you can count on a GoodGymer somewhere to be running around chasing good deeds 🌦️

Kash and Harvey battled the elements to make sure Mr P was one step closer to his vision of a peace garden. On this occasion they trimmed ivy to reveal his favourite trees.

When asked about his peace garden, Mr P said “there’s too many wars in the world, and what can one individual do?”

We do 300+ tasks for isolated older people every month 🎯

Most of the sessions aren’t flashy. It’s a run to the shop for milk, bread and eggs, or weeding the garden. Simple tasks that really need doing.

Keeping someone stocked with the essentials, or letting someone take pride in their garden again has an immediate impact and often takes less than 30 mins in most cases.

GoodGym Missions are quickly becoming the fastest way to Do Good, Get Fit with real, lasting impact on the isolated older people we help.

500 good deeds for Chris in GoodGym Richmond 🚀

Chris is the definition of turning up for your community, completing at least one group session every single month for nearly 8 years!

Chris hasn’t just helped local community projects, he’s shaped them over years of sustained effort. From nurturing gardens for St Christophers Fellowship who help young people in care, jet washing graffiti from walls, organising food bank donations to be distributed and so, so much more. Wherever there’s an opportunity for a GoodGym task to do good in Richmond, Chris will be there.
