A family of four Afghan refugees, a mother, father and two sons aged 13 and 19, are currently reliant on benefits while studying English and are unable to work. The family are struggling to afford essential clothing, including school uniforms and footwear for the children, as well as everyday clothes for the household. We kindly request ÂŁ200 to support the family with clothing essentials, helping to ensure dignity, warmth and that the children can attend school appropriately dressed.

One of our clients, R, is a single man who suffers from autism and also mental health issues, including depression following the death of his partner last year. He has been working with Crosslight for some time and his mental health is gradually improving. ÂŁ150 towards his communal heating charge would be a real boost for him so that he continues to improve and make progress with us.

One of our clients, K, is a full‑time carer for her disabled daughter and cannot work. She is overwhelmed with over £30k of debt and, though eligible for a Debt Relief Order, new debts keep emerging. Bankruptcy would give her a fresh start, reduce stress, and help her focus on caring for her daughter. She is seeking support with the bankruptcy application fees.

One of our clients has recently been rehoused in a flat in Westminster with her 12‑year‑old daughter and is working hard to rebuild stability. Her daughter currently has no single bed frame or mattress, meaning she does not have a proper place to sleep. Providing a safe, comfortable bed would support her wellbeing, routine, and sense of security, helping her settle into their new home with dignity during this important transition.

One of our clients is a single man who has not worked for a while due to health issues. He is living on a low income and has little hope that things will improve. He really wants to find work again but is struggling to pay for public transport to get to places like the job club. He lives in a shared house and tries not to use the heating in his room, in order to save money, so it's cold. He needs warm bedding and also doesn't have enough clothes. Some money to buy these would really help him take the next steps in his journey with Crosslight Advice.

A is a vulnerable adult on benefits with severe mental health impairment. His condition has worsened due to financial stress and rent arrears. Despite support stabilising some debts, he still owes a lot and has no financial resilience. His fridge freezer has broken, leaving him without essentials. Help with buying a fridge freezer would restore basic living standards and support his well-being. This assistance would see him regain some stability and maintain his independence significantly.

Our Financial Capability Lead Lorelei was at the Genistar convention in Birmingham last month to speak to delegates and run a workshop on equipping others with essential money skills, supported by FinCap volunteer Lola.

Lorelei was also delighted to be presented with a cheque for ÂŁ10,000 by Jeff Letz, CEO of Genistar. This donation will make a real and lasting difference to the most vulnerable people in our communities, empowering individuals with the confidence, knowledge, and tools they need to take control of their finances and build a more secure future.
