HF Mencap, following a visit from on behalf of , has been awarded the HAF (Holidays, Activities & Food Programme) Quality Mark, recognising safe, inclusive and high-quality provision for children & young people.

A huge congratulation to the HF Mencap Team and , our Youth Development Project coordinator Jolita has worked incredibly hard on our holiday's provision, and we're so proud to receive this recognition.

'New FREE course just launched, London Makers: Light Forms. Produce and design a bespoke London inspired candle set.

There's still time to sign up to London Makers' latest FREE 8-week creative enterprise course for people (16+) with a learning disability, autism and neurodivergent individuals.

28th October - 16th December, 2-4PM, Wednesdays based in our accessible creative design studio in Hammersmith.

Learn 3D modelling & printing techniques, candle manipulation, product design & development and more whilst working alongside established London creatives.

Sensory Processing Month 💙

We all experience things differently. Sounds, smells, textures, lights and movement all affect how we feel and how we experience the world around us.

At HF Mencap, we’re all about creating opportunities for people to try new things, have fun, get involved and find what works for them.

We’re also really excited that plans are in the works for a new sensory room! A place for clients to relax, explore and enjoy sensory experiences in a way that works for them.

We’re delighted to shine a spotlight on DanceWest and the fantastic team work they do across West London!

Founded in 2014, DanceWest is a registered charity using the power of dance to improve health, reduce isolation and strengthen community connections. Their work reaches around 30,000 people every year, supporting people from ages 1 to 103.

We’re proud to have worked closely with DanceWest for several years. They currently deliver weekly dance sessions with MyLife, as well as activities for YDP during the school holidays.

Following Eloisa’s fantastic mural session, we were pleased to welcome artist Polina Belenchuk to London Makers for a portrait-making workshop.

Our Makers explored colour, shape and expression, creating portraits inspired by people they know and love, as well as some familiar faces! 🎤

Thank you to Polina for leading such an engaging workshop, and to all our Makers as always.

👀Looking ahead: Our Image and Print course begins on 12th October, running for 10 weeks on Monday, 12:30 - 3pm.

Umar —

Course 1: Leather Bags & Accessories

Umar was part of the first London Makers cohort, joining our Leather Bags & Accessories course with a clear ambition: to build their portfolio and prepare for studying Product Design at university.

Working alongside London-based artist and designer Amelie Matignon, Umar explored leather working, product design and creative enterprise, developing their ideas from concept through to making.

Inspired by their passion for aviation, Umar designed and produced this bespoke clutch bag, combining their own creative interests with the skills they developed throughout the course.

For Umar, London Makers provided a space to build confidence, develop their creative practice and take a step towards further education.

London Makers is a free creative enterprise programme for neurodivergent people and people with learning disabilities aged 16+. Through artist-led courses, mentoring and hands-on making, makers develop creative skills, create real-world products and explore pathways into education, enterprise, volunteering and employment.

Ravenscourt Park Community Day 💚🌳

We were delighted to join the Ravenscourt Park Community Day on Saturday 18 July, connecting with local residents, families, organisations and community partners.

It was a fantastic opportunity to share more about HF Mencap, the support and opportunities we offer, and to raise awareness of our work across the local community.

We also got creative with arts and crafts, met new people and celebrated stronger, more inclusive communities.

We were proud to be there alongside LMPAction Hammersmith & Fulham Council

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat, get involved and support the day.🌟

YDP: Summer in the City ☀️

Our Youth Development Project brought young people together for four weeks of inclusive, creative and fun activities, with plenty of opportunities to try something new, get active, make friends and build confidence 💛

From sailing, to bowling, fitness, music, creative sessions and exciting educational workshops, there was something for everyone!
