**Don’t let the silent thief steal your sight 👁️**

January is Glaucoma Awareness Month, and we’re joining the call to protect your vision. Glaucoma often develops without symptoms until significant vision loss has occurred – that’s why it’s called the “silent thief of sight.”

**Are you at higher risk?**
If you’re aged 40+, of African-Caribbean or Asian descent, have a family history of glaucoma, are short-sighted, or living with diabetes, regular eye tests are essential.

**Early detection saves sight.** A simple visit to your optician can catch glaucoma before it causes irreversible damage. Regular eye examinations aren’t just about updating your prescription – they’re a vital health check that could preserve your vision for life.

When did you last have your eyes tested? If it’s been more than two years, now is the time to book an appointment.

We are recruiting for a Treasurer and two new trustees

Friends of Charing Cross Hospital is a grant-making charity focusing on health and social issues in Hammersmith & Fulham, West London. We are now looking for a Trustee/Treasurer and two more trustees to join our volunteer board. We are looking for three enthusiastic trustees with excellent people skills and social commitment, who have the passion to make a difference. Apart from the Treasurer, the other two trustees may have a focus on our social media activities and the engagement with potential beneficiaries and partner organisations in Hammersmith & Fulham.

July is , an opportunity to raise about a form that is less known and for which little research is being conducted. Simply, is still considered to be the “forgotten cancer.” Efforts to encourage research and drug development are made more challenging due to a lack of awareness and understanding. Friends of Charing Cross Hospital is joining the awareness campaign, along with many organisations like and in their communication efforts.
During Sarcoma Awareness Month the campaign aims to further highlight the extraordinary challenges that sarcoma patients face and the need for more sarcoma research and better sarcoma therapies. Sarcomas are rare cancers that develop in the muscle, bone, nerves, cartilage, tendons, blood vessels and the fatty and fibrous tissues.

They can affect almost any part of the body, on the inside or the outside. 10 people every day are diagnosed with sarcoma in the UK

About 3,800 new cases of sarcoma are diagnosed each year in the UK which makes up approximately 1% of all cancer diagnoses.
