After 21 years it has been a huge week as we bid bon voyage to Ewan.

Ewan has guided Asylum Link through good times and bad for over 21 years. It’s no small achievement to keep the Centre and community going through numerous governments, financial crisis’, global pandemics, and the rise and fall and rise of the far right!!!

Thank you Ewan, for all the time and effort that you have given to the Centre and the thousands upon thousands of people that you have made life that bit better for. It is impossible to quantify the difference that you have made!

Good luck in all your future endeavours. You will be missed!!!🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

Hello Folks, this is a taster of our last gig this year with the Choir with No Name (Liverpool) For all you social media hounds who don’t watch anything for more than 15 secs, better get a coffee and settle in because this is 5 mins long!
It’s been fabulous working with other choirs this year, learning and sharing, building belonging and enjoying one anothers music. This is as part of the City Councils, ‘Our Liverpool’ cohesion work and we have one more year to go.

This is also my last at day at ALM. This has been my working home for the past 20 years and in that time we have helped 1000’s of people to cope with the difficulties of the Asylum process. We’ve been through plague(covid), pestilence (rats), riots, financial crashes and governmental stupidity. But whatever the organisation has been through, it pales into insignificance, contrasted with what the people using the centre face; hostility, persecution and often destitution. That is what drives us, and what makes ALM the slightly chaotic, welcoming and useful place is has become.

To all the people who have helped and supported us through the years, to the partners, the friends and funders, the other organisations around us, the trustees, staff and volunteers, and to those who dreamed up and started this wonderful organisation, thank you all. Cheers Ewan

The Asylum System in the UK has been awful for a long time, but that's not the fault of the people stuck in it. Time to re-draw the map, put back some dignity and respect and stop blaming Asylum Seekers for everything that goes wrong.

Thank you to Kate Martinez and all at Sefton Park Palm House for such a fantastic session. Singing brings us all together, whether it's old favourites or something new, and to be able to perform in such a beautiful and historic venue is something to cherish.

Thanks to everyone for a really memorable evening at the Black-E on Thursday as part ot the Hiroshima Commemorations. Chas Raws, one of ALM's founding members, always spoke out against nuclear arms and it was good to remember him in this way.

The Choir's next outing is at the Palm House on Sunday 16th August. It's a fabulous place to sing, the second time we've been there and we're really looking foraward to it.

Enjoy long summer evenings with garden lates at the palm house. This edition presents Asylum Link Community Choir to enjoy!

Vacancy at Asylum Link - Receptionist

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
The Receptionist will provide a welcoming, calm and efficient first point of contact for people visiting or contacting Asylum Link Merseyside (ALM). Many people using the Centre are navigating the asylum system and may be experiencing distress, uncertainty or destitution. The postholder will listen carefully, provide clear initial information, direct people to the appropriate service and seek support promptly where a matter is urgent or outside the scope of the role.
