The Muiravonside Community Growing Area was founded in 2015 by way of land gifted from Falkirk Community Trust to the local community to allow local families on low incomes to grow food/produce. It consists of 34 plots (each 4.5m x 15m approx) and 2 raised beds. The MCGA is currently managed by 4 committee members. The MCGA also hold events on site at various locations around the park in conjuncti

on with the Rangers and Farm staff. The current waiting time for being allocated a plot after joining the waiting list is approx 1 year to 18 months.

Polite request to members of the public using the lower section of the main car park near the farm at Muiravonside Country Park:- Please be mindful that the car park is an also access way for vehicles and materials to enter and exit the Muiravonside Community Growing Area plots.

We have large items and equipment stored in the container we need to move in/out, we need wheelbarrow access to the piles of woodchip and gravel next to the blue shipping container, and there is a water pipe/drain cover we need access to. These areas are clearly indicated as to no-park zones by multiple yellow cones specifically placed so as to not have cars park there.

Today Muiravonside Country Park was extremely busy, with the bank holiday, and the car parking got extremely ridiculous after the standard parking spaces became full.

What is not acceptable is that we had one car driver move the 4x cones protecting the drain cover and park over the top of it, another car driver park on top of our pile of woodchip, thus preventing access to it which a couple of our plotholders were hoping to use, and also parking tightly together near the front doors of the storage container thus restricting our access.

Please do not move any cones to create your own parking space, and if you do need to park in front of the blue shipping storage container you need to leave room for access for large items to be moved.

Thanks.

Important update about parking charges at Muiravonside:

Over the past 2 years, we have made significant investment into the facilities at Muiravonside, thanks to funding from a variety of sources. Upgrades including our new play park, accessible pathways and farm improvements have, we hope, improved the experience our visitors have at Muiravonside, and we have been so pleased to welcome so many new visitors to the farm and country park.

As many of you will know, Falkirk Council continues to face significant budget challenges and, as a result of this, a decision was taken in March 2025 to increase fees and charges across the Council area, including at Muiravonside Country Park. We delayed implementing these increases at Muiravonside until we were satisfied that the technical issues the parking barriers were experiencing had been resolved as far as was reasonably practicable.

From 12th August, Muiravonside car parking charges will be:

£2 for up to 90 minutes
£4 for all-day parking
15-minute free grace period for drop-offs and collections
Annual parking pass price remains £104 for unlimited parking.

All income generated from parking charges goes straight back into the Muiravonside budget to help care for our farm and country park and helps to ensure these facilities can remain open to be enjoyed by our visitors.
