Morning folks! A reminder that there are guided walks of the battlefield site leaving the Lennox Cairn today at 11.15/30 and again at 2pm!
Led by Harry Millar and Nick Drainey, this is a chance to walk the site where the Battle of Linlithgow Bridge was fought and see how the landscape has changed - and what the River Avon contains now!
Meeting point is at the Lennox Cairn, just at the entrance to Kettilstoun/Xcite Linlithgow.

***A few bits of housekeeping for everyone attending the battle re-enactment event this Saturday and Sunday!

*The event is open to the public from 11-4 each day and the programme is the same for both days, except for an extra guided walk on Sunday afternoon and the attendance of the Falkirk District Wargamers Club, also on Sunday.
*Car parking for the event is available at Linlithgow Academy, apart from blue badge holders who will be able to park at Xcite Linlithgow.
*Hot and cold drinks are available from the Xcite cafe, there will be no other catering provided at the site, although of course there are many options available across Linlithgow, and the organisers recommend bringing your own picnic wherever possible!
*This is an outdoor event, so please dress for the weather.
*No seating will be provided.

Update on this weekend's events!

*Saturday's battle re-enactment by Xcite Linlithgow Members is now fully booked. There are a handful of spaces left for Sunday's event, but be quick, there really are only a few!

*There are still tickets left for Bruce Jamieson's multimedia presentations in St Michael's Church for both Friday and Saturday night, but Friday is very close to selling out now, so don't miss out!

Ahem ... THREE weeks to go: we're just too excited about the battle!

Just two weeks to go until the battle comes to Linlithgow!

Join us and Scottish Battlefields Trust on Saturday 5th or Sunday 6th September to experience the sights and sounds of the Battle of Linlithgow Bridge at this free public event in the field by Xcite Linlithgow, with a programme of dramatic displays and living history. Enjoy weaponry displays, visit the rival encampments, and witness the Earl of Lennox's attack.

Open 11am-4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
This is a free event, suitable for all ages, but children must be accompanied by adults at all times.

Have you got your tickets to the spectacular presentation coming to St Michael's Church on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th September?
Bruce Jamieson has created a really memorable show, King James V and the Battle of Linlithgow Bridge.
Featuring the sights and sounds of the battle, as well music written especially for the performance by Bill Jones and performed by the Linlithgow String Orchestra, all narrated by Bruce Jamieson and Thom Po***ck.
These performances will certainly be nights to remember!

The first performance of While the Battle’s at the Brig by The Linlithgow Players took place today at Linlithgow Palace, and the audience response was fantastic. This specially written playlet brings the morning of 4 September 1526 to life, following three generations of townsfolk as they face divided loyalties, memories of Flodden, and the tension of the coming battle.

The Players first performed at the Palace in 1540, so their return to the courtyard this August feels wonderfully historic. It’s a lively, engaging production with great characters — including a mischievous Lithca fruit‑seller who keeps everyone on track.
Performances are free with a Palace entry ticket, and it’s a brilliant way to experience local history in the setting where it happened.
