The New Well, Linlithgow This page is for The New Well, Linlithgow - a safe space for the people of Linlithgow and the surrounding areas.

The New Well is a charity registered in Scotland SC050173. The New Well is a community focussed charity based in Linlithgow that grew out of St John's Church in 2020. Our aim is to bring hope and connection through enhancing emotional, financial and spiritual wellbeing and our volunteers come from various local churches. The New Well team provides counselling, runs a Christians Against Poverty Job

Club and Money Courses and facilitates Chatty Tables in some local cafes – especially for those who are isolated and lonely. We befriend individuals and, where appropriate, signpost them to further sources of support. We work in partnership with various local statutory and voluntary organisations.

People sometimes ask what The New Well does.

The simple answer is that we try to create places where people can find support, connection, encouragement, and hope.

That might be through counselling, community groups, practical help, a conversation over coffee, or pointing someone towards the right support.

Different people need different things at different times, but everyone deserves to know they're not alone.

With summer around the corner, certain songs start to come back to life.

Music can lift our mood, bring back memories, and even make ordinary jobs feel a bit easier.

Whether it’s doing the dishes, driving with the windows down, or getting things done around the house, the right song can change the feel of a moment.

What’s a song that always feels like summer to you?

As we reach the middle of the year, we want to take a moment to appreciate everyone who helps make The New Well what it is.

We are grateful for our staff, volunteers, trustees, counsellors, group leaders, supporters, and those who support financially.

So much of what happens in a local charity depends on people quietly showing up, giving what they can, and doing their part.

Thank you to everyone who plays a part in The New Well.

Feel free to give this post a thumbs up to show your appreciation too.

A small thought for the week:

When the mind becomes overloaded, even small pauses can help reduce stress and mental fatigue.

Rest is not always about doing nothing. Sometimes it gives the brain a chance to reorganise itself a bit, like tidying a busy room before things start to feel clearer again.

We are a local charity based in Linlithgow focused on wellbeing, connection, and support within the community.

Over recent months it’s been encouraging to see more people connecting with us through counselling, Chatty Tables, Job Club, wellbeing posts, and community events.

Our hope is to continue building practical and supportive spaces where people feel listened to, encouraged, and connected.

A small thought for the week:

Research consistently shows that strong social connection is linked to better mental and physical wellbeing.

Even small moments of connection can make a difference.

People often think counselling is only for major crises.

In reality, many people use counselling simply as a space to think clearly, talk things through, and feel less overwhelmed.

Sometimes having regular time to reflect and be listened to without judgement can make a real difference.
