The New Well, Linlithgow This page is for The New Well, Linlithgow - a safe space for the people of Linlithgow and the surrounding areas.

The New Well is a charity registered in Scotland SC050173. The New Well is a community focussed charity based in Linlithgow that grew out of St John's Church in 2020. Our aim is to bring hope and connection through enhancing emotional, financial and spiritual wellbeing and our volunteers come from various local churches. The New Well team provides counselling, runs a Christians Against Poverty Job

Club and Money Courses and facilitates Chatty Tables in some local cafes – especially for those who are isolated and lonely. We befriend individuals and, where appropriate, signpost them to further sources of support. We work in partnership with various local statutory and voluntary organisations.

Our friends at St John’s are having a week of prayer. What would you like prayer for?

6-13 September is a Global Week of 24-7 prayer and local churches are taking part. Prayer is simply talking to God about what matters. Let us know about anything you would like us to pray for, big or small - if it matters to you, it matters. You can post prayer requests via DM here on Facebook, in the comments section below (post anonymously if it is easier), or simply write it on a piece of paper and drop it off at our Low Port office. We would love to pray for you.

Counselling. A Job Club. Chatty Tables.

At first glance, they might not seem to have much in common.

But wellbeing isn't just one part of life.

What happens in our relationships matters. So does having purpose and meaningful work. So does having people around us and feeling part of a community.

That's why The New Well has developed three distinct branches of support.

Counselling gives people a place to work through difficulties in their lives with a trained counsellor.

Our Job Club offers practical support to people looking for work, while helping rebuild confidence and direction.

Chatty Tables creates opportunities for people to meet, talk and build connections in their community.

Three very different things, but with the same purpose behind them:

Helping build a community where people can live with hope and connection.

Maybe the small stuff isn't really the small stuff.

We spend a lot of time looking ahead to the things we hope for.

But follow many of those hopes far enough and they lead us back to people. To meaningful relationships. To loving and being loved well.

And much of that is already happening in the ordinary parts of our lives.

The conversation around the table. The familiar routine. Helping someone out. Laughing about something that won't be funny to anyone else. Being there, again and again.

One day, many of these will be the things we remember most.

Embrace the ordinary. There's a lot of life happening there.

Behind every counselling appointment at The New Well is someone who has chosen to be there.

Our counselling team bring their training, experience and time each week to support people from across our community.

They listen to difficult stories. They build relationships. They do the patient work of helping people understand what they are facing and find a way forward.

We talk a lot about making counselling accessible through our donation-based service.

Today we want to recognise the counsellors who make that possible.

Thank you to our counselling team.

A patient person understands the value of unseen, unrewarded work.

They know roots grow deep long before the day in the sun comes.

Embrace small beginnings.

They are the foundations of your future.
