Linlithgow Speakers - Toastmasters Club - Public Speaking

Linlithgow Speakers - Toastmasters Club - Public Speaking Since 1924, more than 4 million people around the world have become more confident speakers and leaders because of their participation in Toastmasters.

We are part of Toastmasters International

Aiming to provide a supportive, safe and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth. Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development. Today, our membership is 292,000 strong. These members im

prove their speaking and leadership skills by attending one of the 14,350 clubs in 122 countries that make up our global network of meeting locations. How Does It Work? A Toastmasters meeting is a learn-by-doing workshop in which participants hone their speaking and leadership skills in a no-pressure atmosphere. Normally around 20-25 members, Linlithgow Speakers meets fortnightly for two hours. There is no instructor in a Toastmasters meeting. Instead, members evaluate one another’s presentations. The feedback process is a key part of the program’s success, allowing everyone to understand what was effective in the speech as well as what could have been done differently to create additional impact. Meeting participants also give impromptu talks on assigned topics, conduct meetings and create lifelong relationships, all while being entertained!

What an AMAZING achievement for Toastmasters Linlithgow! 🎉👏

A huge congratulations to James, who absolutely smashed it at the District 71 competition!

James came FIRST PLACE in not only Table Topics, but also Evaluation Speech Contest 🏆🏆

That means he is now recognised as the top speaker in these categories across Scotland, Ireland, Northern Wales, Northern England, the Midlands, and the East of England — what an incredible achievement! 🌟

Toastmasters is about so much more than public speaking.

Table Topics helps build confidence in impromptu speaking — thinking on your feet and communicating clearly under pressure. Our Evaluation contests develop powerful leadership and communication skills by teaching how to give constructive, supportive, and effective feedback.

These are skills that help in work, leadership, interviews, meetings, and everyday life.

We are so proud of James and everything he has achieved! 💙

If you’d like to grow your confidence, communication, leadership, and speaking skills in a supportive and welcoming environment, come along to Toastmasters Linlithgow — we’d love to meet you!

What an amazing session we had on Tuesday at Linlithgow Speakers!

We welcomed a great mix of members joining both online and in person, and kicked things off with a reflective discussion on why we all joined Toastmasters in the first place.

The reasons were wonderfully varied:
✨ Building confidence
✨ Preparing for big life moments like wedding speeches
✨ Developing professional skills
✨ Finding our voice

But what truly stood out was this: while those reasons brought us through the door, what we’ve gained has been so much more.

💫 Confidence that carries into everyday life
💫 Genuine enjoyment in speaking and connecting
💫 Personal growth and resilience
💫 Empowerment and self-belief

Linlithgow Speakers isn’t just about public speaking — it’s about becoming the best version of yourself in a supportive, encouraging community.

If you’ve ever thought about improving your confidence, finding your voice, or simply meeting a fantastic group of people… come along and see what we’re all about.

👉 Find your voice. Build your confidence. Discover your community.

Reading a speech in your head is not the same as saying it out loud. Practice speaking your words so you can hear your pacing, pauses, and clarity. 🎤

✨ Another fantastic night at Linlithgow Toastmasters! ✨

We were treated to inspiring speeches from Kamran and James — exploring luck vs hard work and giving us an exciting glimpse into a first draft in progress 👏

Our learning continued with insights into jobs and careers, followed by lively Table Topics where members stepped up, thought on their feet, and even took on new roles — great to see everyone pushing their comfort zones! 💪

The evening was wrapped up brilliantly with a general evaluation from our Division Director, Ronnie, offering valuable feedback and encouragement.

Supportive, fun, and full of new ideas — including a lucky dip for next week’s roles 🎉
Giving it a go with this kind of support really makes learning enjoyable and rewarding.

If you’re looking to build confidence, communication skills, and have a great time doing it, Linlithgow Toastmasters is the place to be!

Next meeting 3rd Feb!
