Cervical screening (smear test) isn't always easy. But there are some things you can do that may help make the appointment more comfortable. ❤

If you have received a letter about cervical screening, speak to your GP. 📞

One of the best ways to prevent cervical cancer is to attend your screening appointment.

Are you a woman of Black heritage living in Leeds? 💜

Come along to one of our Conversation Cafés which are relaxed, welcoming spaces where women can speak openly about violence against women and girls, share experiences, and help shape change for Black women and communities across Leeds.

What’s shared during these sessions will help influence future work, improve support and services, and make sure the voices of Black women are heard properly in conversations that affect them.

This is only the beginning. We want these cafés to help build longer-term conversations and future opportunities for women to stay involved and shape work going forward. If you’re interested in hearing about future sessions and projects, we’d really encourage you to sign up to our mailing list, you can do that here: https://forms.office.com/e/N2V1mWSCXS

We just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended our Conference for Women of Black Heritage this week! 💬

It was such a powerful day, with honest conversations, shared experiences, and a real sense of people wanting to make things better. The room was full of insight, strength and openness, and it really showed why spaces like this matter.

We heard directly from women about their experiences of violence against women and girls, what’s not working, and what needs to change. This isn’t just a conversation; what was shared will help shape the work going forward and influence the support that’s put in place.

A special thank you to The Suzy Lamplugh Trust for delivering a really valuable training session, and to Bridge Community Church for their support on the day and helping make it such a fantastic event.

We also want to thank our speakers and partners, including West Yorkshire Police, for contributing to such an important discussion.

This is just the start. We’ll be continuing this work through our Conversation Cafés and future sessions, making sure women of Black heritage are at the centre of what happens next.

If you weren’t able to attend, there are still opportunities to get involved so keep an eye out for upcoming sessions 👀
