The last grief cafe in March was apparently lovely with great conversations ,catching up and new friends made! ( I missed it due to illness and that’s the beauty of peer support when everybody does their bit to create a special welcoming space for everybody) Thank you😊
We had a visit from Cath at Skippko, a Leeds city wide arts programme to introduce their latest project ‘a room in Leeds ‘
Some of us have really enjoyed being creative together in the past( there is no pressure to join in if this isn’t your thing!) . We have explored memories of food and meals, created and spoken poems about love and grief, learnt how to embroider, spent time together, by the side of each other while we were doing it.
The room in Leeds project gives an opportunity to be part of another creative city wide conversation. We are thinking about objects in in our home that hold connection and memories. My house is full of them!
I’ve got tapestries made by my Mum.They have her hands ,attention, love and time imprinted on the threads. The picture on the front but the Knots and the working out on the back not seen.
I have the old tablespoons from my Nana that I still use for baking.
We have so many connections in everyday life to our special people who are no longer physically present but there in so many ways , in our thoughts, our activities, in the ways we move forward in life, taking them with us, making new memories.
Our next cafe is 19th April when we will have chance to use the additional room for those that want to get together to explore more of the project! Looking forward to it ! Xx
