The topic in this Cyber Byte includes a terminology you might not be familiar with but certainly for some cyber criminals, it’s a term and action they use regularly.

The term is “Doxxing” and refers to the non-consensual publishing of personal details such as full name, home address, phone number, workplace, financial information, or private contact details. The defining feature is non consensual exposure - that the victim did not agree to the sharing of the information, and the disclosure is intended to cause harm.

Within the Cyber Byte there is a link to a full explanation of “Doxxing” along with actions you can take to better protect yourself from such an act.

If you’re an older pedestrian in Fife, here’s a few things to keep in mind when walking near busy roads:

😎If you have glasses or hearing aids, always wear them when you are out and about.
🛑Don’t assume all cars will stop at pedestrian crossings or red lights. Wait until you’re sure it’s safe to cross the road.
🚗Electric and hybrid vehicles are quieter, so remember to stop, look, and listen, before crossing the road.
⏱Allow extra time when making journeys. If you’re in a rush, you’re more likely to make poor decisions. Don’t chance it.
