Fun, laughter and lots of strikes were the theme for our carers at Shipley Bowling Alley this afternoon as part of our activities for Carers week.🎳

The event gave carers the opportunity to take a well deserved break, spend time with others, build friendship connections and community with those who understand the realities of caring for a loved one with mental illness .🩷

We were also joined by Phil Orton our Deputy Chief Executive who came along to meet our carers and show his support for all they do in their caring role.

Carers do so much for the people they support so it was really lovely to see how much everyone enjoyed themselves together this afternoon.💚

So a big thankyou to everyone who joined us and made the afternoon such a brilliant one
🎳💜🎳

This year's theme for carers week is Building Carer Friendly Communities and events like these are a reminder of the importance of creating opportunities for carers to connect, feel valued and access support.

Wow...what an amazing first event for carers week!🩷

A huge thankyou to sooo many of you coming to our picnic in the park event in Robert's Park Saltaire and making this event so special despite the weather and to our CEO Rachel Peacock who came along to join us too...you all are all amazing and definitely from Yorkshire!💙

The sun may not have been shining much but there was definitely warmth, connection sharing and togetherness in abundance which was a joy to see, be apart of and a great example of this year's carer's week theme. Building Carer Friendly Communuties

💙 Carers Week 2026 | 8–14 June 💙
This year’s theme is Building Carer Friendly Communities — highlighting the importance of creating communities where unpaid carers feel recognised, understood and supported.

Across the UK, millions of unpaid carers provide vital support every day to family members, friends and loved ones, often alongside work, family life and their own wellbeing.

This Carers Week, join thousands of individuals and organisations helping to raise awareness, empower carers and create real change in our workplaces, schools, services and communities.

At Making Space, we’re proud to support carers through our services, partnerships and events taking place across the week - including carers picnics, wellbeing activities, information events, afternoon teas and day trips designed to bring carers together, offer support and help carers feel valued.

✨ Even small actions can make a big difference to a carer’s life.
